The DTX402K drum kit features a button style kick pedal which while it lacks the realism of the hammer action pedals available on the 432K 452K and 482K models it benefits from far less vibrations and subsequently less noise transference through the floor. It does not come with a kick tower unlike its other counterparts in the 400 series, however, the response of the pedals are pretty good enough. This will be music to the ears of drummers who like the feel of an actual bass drum pedal over the free-floating variety.

The real surprise though comes in the form of complete app control via the accompanying DTX402 Touch app. For starters the compact kit takes up minimal space, while the silent bass drum pedal does wonders for neighbour-relations. A metronome, play-along music, recording function, timing and tempo tests, MIDI/USB connectivity, and a stereo-in to play along to your own favourite music through an audio device.
