Along her journey she will come across some amazing cast of characters each of which may have a spin-off books of their own adventures. Though it's quite dense, I loved lots of individual elements throughout, and I always loved Nausicaä the character, who's definitely grown a whole lot by the end. But the scope of the story reaches beyond comic lovers, this is something that someone who doesn't generally read comics should at least try reading imo. However, like Mœbius, even when these marvels have some urgent purpose within his carefully plotted world, Miyazaki resists any deeper explanations. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is an epic fantasy tale written and illustrated by legendary Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki, creator of My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle. Such an interesting world Miyazaki has created, however I do feel that the level of action is better suited in movie form (which part 1 has been). Like Mœbius, Miyazaki draws with perfect technical precision, even in the necessarily fuzzy medium of watercolor. The tale is commonly thought to be a metaphor for the momentous introduction of barley, which can survive the region’s biting cold, to the Tibetan plateau. I loved Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind the film so much that I bought the beautiful hardcover edition of the 1104-page manga.
