A brilliant first novel and I look forward to finding out what comes next for the gang, when we may or may not need to get used to some new names! i cried a few times while reading because of how emotional it is, i did not expect this from a children’s book and i didn’t prepare for any of the twists either! Twelve doesn't want to make any friends, even when timid Seven tries so very hard to be kind to her. But when the Hunting Lodge is attacked by goblins, and other creatures even worse, and Seven, the only person she has any connection with, is kidnapped, Twelve sets out to rescue the little girl. Twelve is complex, flawed,sometimes cruel, has aggressive outbursts and is completely socially incompetent, due to the fact that she cuts off those around her.

Dog is fantastic, and you can’t help but feel for him as the ‘designated adult’ trying to ride herd on a group of children, especially one that struggles to get along. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. This track is tailor-made for Rock Radio and for playing at ear-splitting volume in an open topped car roaring down the open road – awesome stuff indeed. These are locations that again are well described and detailed to the point where I could richly imagine the mountains and atmospheric forest with all its dangers. The main character, Twelve, is an outsider and the reader quickly understands why she is not too well liked by the other huntlings -children training to be dark creature hunters.
