About this deal

Filter-thread: 82mm just like the others except for the Tamron which uses cheaper 67mm filters. [0] If you’re a professional and using one of these camera bodies, it might be worth it to upgrade. Weight difference Taking a close look in the middle reveals plenty of fine details even with the aperture wide-open, and closing the aperture makes little difference to the quality.

Focus accuracy and repeatability is critical to consistently produce sharp shots. Repeatability (the accuracy of focus on the same subject after repeated focus-acquisition) of this lens at 70mm focal length is very good (measured 99.1% in Reikan FoCal) with no outliers over a series of 40 shots. There is no focus variation whether the lens focuses from a closer distance or from infinity and I didn’t detect any hunting. At 70mm focal length the lens focuses in around 0.7 sec from infinity to 0.76m (1:10 magnification), which is as fast as the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 Di III but slower than the Nikon Z 24-70mm f2.8 S (on a Z7) at 0.5 sec. Above: Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art coverage on Sony A7R II (FF) body at 24mm (left) and 70mm (right) I really like the Canon here, it’s standing out to me as being the sharpest of the bunch. The Lumix, Sigma Sony, and Nikon are all pretty much playing in the same sandbox right behind it though. Moving over to the L-mount competition, the Panasonic Lumix S Pro 24–70mm F2.8 is double the price of the Sigma 24–70mm F2.8 Art, and it's also both 12% heavier and 14% longer. It has an 11-bladed aperture like that of the Sigma and a similarly-complex optical formula. If you want light and high quality without breaking the bank, you have enough choice with our Sony equipment.Getting the best idea for what you, the consumer, can expect from a lens requires testing more than one lens. It requires testing more than a dozen. That’s why LensRentals tests a huge swatch of lenses and averages the results. We highly recommend you use them as well as looking into the results here. As much as you should judge a lens by its average, you should also know how individual lenses that are sent out at random perform against one another. Zooming in to the 70mm position the story is pretty similar, with a great level of detail in the center but rather softer corners when shooting wide-open. Again, stopping down to F5.6 helps throughout the image. That said, the improvement in the center is less dramatic at telephoto and the improvement in the corners is more noticeable than it was at wide-angle.

It doesn't feel overly heavy though, and we felt the E-mount variant balanced very nicely with our Sony A7R III body. Despite being just slightly longer, Sigma specs the E-mount version as being just a touch lighter at 830g (29.0oz) versus 835g (29.5oz) for the L-mount optic.Returning to the f2.8 image and heading into the far corner shows a very mild drop in sharpness and minor darkening from vignetting, but it’s still a great-looking result especially as again it was focused in the middle. As you gradually close the aperture, any darkening will lift and you’ll gain some extra sharpness on the far corner.

maybe people who used to Canon/Fujifilm colors too much, personally i, after years with experience on Canon/Nikon/Sony full-frames cameras (never used Fijifilm though) would say: yes Canon DOES have SPECIFIC COLORS at daylight photography when WB is warm. and, notice, i didn't said GOOD colors, i said SPECIFIC. when you used to it - you probably would fin a way to get same colors on other system, cause such specific color is specific in wofkflow and need specific approach, so when you get other colors from other camera - it would be hard to used to it. ARE THIS COLORS GOOD? they are warmy comfy and could be really good for wedding / some commercial shootings. why i ain't consider them GOOD? Unfortunately, despite the dramatic number of points the appearance of the sunstars is quite diffuse. If you are a landscape photographer looking for sharp, clean and dramatic sunstars you may want to look elsewhere. Longitudinal / lateral chromatic aberration (fringing)Heading out to the corners of the f2.8 image shows the lens maintaining a respectably flat field – remember this was focused in the middle of the frame – with only some darkening due to vignetting to mention. As you gradually close the aperture, this darkening lifts and there’s a mild boost in overall corner crispness, but the lens really is performing well at 24mm. Every camera brand changes colors a bit, from camera to camera. On Canon / Nikon, whenever a new 5D or D7x0/D8x0 came out, everybody talked about how the colors weren't the same as their last camera. If you're an E-mount shooter who's especially sensitive to size, weight or cost, and you can live with the lesser wide-angle possibilities, it's definitely worth investigating Tamron's latest offering. Image stabilization: None of the lenses in this comparison offers optical stabilization. But the full-frame mirrorless cameras from Sony, Nikon, and Panasonic provide built-in sensor-shift stabilization. [0]
