Jonathan and the RSNO have previously collaborated on “Gaspard’s Foxtrot”, which reached thousands of Scottish school children over the last two years. Classic FM’s Orchestra in North West England, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and two massed choirs come together for a whirlwind of festive music, featuring RLPO’s Artist in Residence trumpeter Pacho Flores, and presented by Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason. James – Christmas pud for me – I love it. Also, Christmas cake and mince pies – I’d eat them all year round if I could! The pictures in Gaspard’s Christmas are absolutely beautiful and we’re so excited to see you paint live at the concerts. Do you ever get nervous doing this?

Not this year, I’ll be flying to Mexico on Christmas Day. But they do have foxes, the kit fox ( Vulpes macrotis), so I may make friends with one of Gaspard’s distant cousins although I will need to brush up my Spanish! Gaspard’s Christmas is named ‘Best Charity Book’ in The Independent’s 11 best Christmas books for children 2022 Gaspard boards the Number 38 bus and sets off on a musical adventure through the sights, sounds and smells on London. This tale in the delightful Gaspard the Fox series is narrated by the book’s author, Zeb Soanes with live on-stage illustration by James Mayhew. The perfect way to introduce children to a live orchestra through images and storytelling. From Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 December, Zeb Soanes dedicates the final hour of his programme to some of London’s most glorious carol concerts. Join Zeb at 9pm on Wednesday as he transports us to St Martin-in-the-Fields, where St Martin’s Voices perform a choral rendition of the Nativity story, with music by Britten, Rutter, and the premiere performance of Bob Chilcott’s ‘Mary Mother’. Classic FM’s very own Alan Titchmarsh joins the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the CBSO Choruses for an evening of festive cheer, full of traditional carols and new Christmas classics. After an eventful year, during which we’ve celebrated 30 years of Classic FM, 90 years of John Williams, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and plenty more, it seems only right that we should see 2022 out in style.
