About this deal

Compared to the Osprey Aura AG 65, the brand claims that the light version doesn’t “compromise on comfort.” Skycie put this to the test, and unfortunately, her experience differed. When it comes to comfort, the Aura 50 shines. The adjustable harness and hip belt, along with the innovative suspension and ventilation systems, provide a customized fit and excellent support. You’ll be able to hike for hours without discomfort or strain. The straps themselves are very well padded, and also feature mesh to keep them ventilated. This Osprey Aura 50L really is equipped to take on hot weather travel! My only gripe is that this strap mesh could be rough and irritating to the skin on my shoulders, so I had to wear a t-shirt rather than a smaller top whenever I made a long journey, or else wrap the straps in something. I can see what they were trying to do, though. In most cases, the choice between the two bags comes down to the amount of space required to comfortably fit all your supplies, especially considering that both bags come with more or less the same design and features. The Anti-Gravity suspension system also includes a tensioned mesh harness and hip belt. These components are constructed with a flexible and breathable mesh material that conforms to your body shape and promotes airflow. The mesh harness and hip belt are also fully adjustable, allowing you to achieve a customized fit for maximum comfort.

Its accent fabric is recycled 210D high-tenacity nylon, also with a PFAS-free DWR. Its base fabric is similar: a recycled 500D high-tenacity nylon with a PFAS-free DWR. Despite its impressive features and performance, the Osprey Aura 50 remains lightweight and compact. It weighs just under 4 pounds and has a capacity of 50 liters, making it an ideal choice for both short and long-distance trips. It isn't just the lightweight, ventilated comfort and support that we love about the Aura AG 50, we also love the attention to detail and the huge number of clever, useful and unique, features. So, let’s start up at the top and work our way down. As a non-hiker, there are a lot of spare straps flapping around that I never found a real use for, but they can easily be tied up and put out of sight’s way. Shape-wise, it’s not too wide, and not too long either. The Osprey Aura 50L is just really nicely designed. Table Data Source: data reported by Osprey. Travel Lemming has tested and confirmed these dimensions for the Osprey Aura AG LT 65 (extra small/small size). However, we have not manually confirmed this data for all other models. However, it can be a little confusing when you have to choose between the Aura 50 and the 65. Hopefully, the review above provides you with all the information you need to make a well-thought-out decision! All the best! This is what brings about the difference in capacity. Nevertheless, both Osprey 50 and 65 allow you to select a customisable fit by splitting the size of the bags into Small, Extra Small, and Medium sizes. This means you can find a size that perfectly conforms to your body size and shape. You also get just the right number of compartments to conveniently organise your gear without making it overcomplicated. The Aura 50 Extra Small is the most compact version in the range with a capacity of 44 liters and a weight of about 4 pounds. It also measures 28.35 x 14.17 x 14.17” in size. While the two bags look more or less the same, there are a few differences that may not be too obvious when you compare them side by side...

In terms of durability, the Aura 50 is built to last. Its high-quality materials and reinforced stitching withstand the challenges of rugged terrains and heavy loads. Additionally, with its weather-resistant features and included rain cover, your gear will stay protected from the elements. The Osprey Aura 50 is available in X-small, Small, and Medium versions with a capacity of 44, 47, and 50 litres respectively.Inside the main compartment, the Aura 50 offers plenty of space for organizing your gear. It features a large central compartment with a zippered divider, allowing you to separate your clean clothes from dirty or wet items. The compartment is also equipped with a hydration sleeve, which is compatible with a hydration reservoir (not included), making it convenient for staying hydrated on the go. When you’re on the move, especially during strenuous activities, proper ventilation is crucial to staying comfortable and reducing sweat build-up. The Osprey Aura 50 excels in this aspect with a well-designed ventilation system that helps keep you cool and dry throughout your outdoor adventures. It may also come in handy when you have to board a plane since its compact size may be allowed inside. The bag is also available in three different versions. You can choose between the X-small, Small, and Medium iterations that come with a capacity of 60, 62, and 65 litres respectively!

Minimalism really does work best when you’re travelling long-term. There’s a huge amount of satisfaction that comes from being able to fit everything you own into one bag, and honestly one of the biggest adjustments when returning home was being surrounded by so much STUFF. Its size might just be within the allowed limit to board a plane and it will be a nice option if you want something more rugged and comfortable for the trip. The main shortcoming to using the Aura 50 for traveling is that it only has one access to the main compartment, which is also located at the top. For example, the extra small/small Osprey Eja 58 may be slightly smaller (55L) than the Osprey Aura AG LT 65 (63L). But the Eja’s 100D main fabric largely accounts for its low weight of just 2.717 lbs (1.232 kg). Because of this, the smaller 50L Osprey Aura 50 is a nice choice for overnight trips and short travels that don’t necessitate a lot of supplies. If you are the kind of adventurer who likes to travel minimally and lightweight, this will be a more practical choice for you. ANTI-GRAVITY HIPBELT – The suspended mesh theme continues through the padded hipbelt which wraps closely around your hips for optimal weight transfer and comfort. Featuring a Fit-on-the-Fly adjustment, the hipbelt can be adapted to suit your body perfectly, ensuring the structural fins are in the most efficient position. On the other hand, if you are setting out on a long and multi-day adventure, the Aura 65 offers you the capacity to carry enough supplies to last you through the trip. The Aura 50 weighs just under 4 pounds (1.8 kg), making it one of the lighter options available in its category. This lightweight construction allows you to carry more gear without feeling weighed down. It is particularly advantageous for long-distance hikes or multi-day trips where reducing weight can significantly improve your overall hiking experience. One thing I’ll say about the hip straps though is that being so stiff it can be a difficult task just to pull them out from behind you to get them round your waist. Sometimes I didn’t feel strong enough and just gave up (I’m a petty wiener like that).

The Small Aura 50 is the mid-point in the range and add an extra pound to weigh 4.1 pounds. It can also carry 47 litters luggage and features dimensions of 32.28 x 14.17 x 14.17”. Finally, you can also buy the biggest Osprey Aura 50 which has an actual 50-liter capacity. It weighs 4.18 pounds and measures 32.28 x 14.17 x 14.17”.Another difference comes in the sizes of the bag. When placed side by side, you’ll notice that the Aura 50 is considerably slimmer and more compact than the Aura 65. Side tension straps are linked to the hipbelt. By tightening these straps you can stabilise the load but reduce the hipbelt flexibility. Where balance is critical tightening them can help you feel more secure. However, if you are striding out over easy terrain it’s better to loosen these straps to allow full hip flexibility. On the other hand, the Aura 50 may be a practical consideration to travel with. The Extra Small sizing of the Aura 50 is compact enough to carry just a few supplies you’ll need for a weekend trip. Ultimately, the Osprey Aura 50 delivers excellent value for the price. While it may be a higher initial investment, its durability, comfort, storage capacity, and organizational features make it worth every penny. For outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize reliability and functionality, the Aura 50 is an exceptional choice that will serve you well on all your adventures. Another similarity comes in the way the bags are designed. Both the Osprey Aura 50 and 65 are manufactured using the same kind of material. The main construction employs an extremely durable 100D by 630D nylon fabric that offers rugged performance in tough hiking conditions.
