I have installed Tremol-Nos in various guitars and have not run into any compatibility issues so far. All popular tremolo systems are supported, even though you do need to make sure that the Tremol-No model you use is compatible with the tremolo system. More on that later. The Deep-C clamp (pictured on the left with the thumbscrew in it) is equally easy to use. Position it up the sliding arm to allow dive-only movement of the tremolo, or move it out of the way (as pictured) if you want the tremolo to have its full range of motion. Compatibility You can also get vibrato effects pedals. These have a more “steady” sound, as there’s an equal time between the pitch bends. Then, with the bar above the guitar strings, play a chord and move the bar up and down. You don’t need to press it down hard, a little movement will give you the vibrato effect. Get a hand drill with a 2-3mm drill bit and drill a slight indent to mark your first screw. Then get one of the screws that came with the barrel-bolt and screw it in with the appropriate Phillips head screw driver.

It works with most tremolo systems and can be installed without making permanent modifications to the guitar. Why use a Tremol-No? Most of the time, vibrato sounds like a slight “wobble” in the sound that’s a much subtler effect than tremolo. Remember, tremolo is to do with rapid changes in volume. A “tremolo bar” (more accurately called a vibrato system) actually produces vibrato. Some guitars, you can set up like this relatively easily. If you can put the bridge-base flat to the guitar top and give the springs a bit of a tighten, you’ll eliminate some of the problems of a fully-floating tremolo. You’ll still be able to dive and wobble the bridge about but you won’t be able to pull up beyond the strings’ usual pitch.

This all sounds great in theory, but let’s see whether the Tremol-No actually delivers on these claims. Unboxing Vibrato can be achieved by either doing hand vibrato, using a vibrato system, or by using a vibrato effects pedal It comes from the Italian word vibrare which means “to vibrate”. And that’s exactly what’s happening to both the guitar string and sound.

To start with the positives, the device is made from the right materials, has a quality finish and is constructed with narrow tolerances. Especially the tolerances are important, as you don’t want any play in the components that causes the bridge to wobble. If it’s used a little, vibrato can add a lot of interest and feeling to a guitar part. Adding vibrato can keep longer notes from feeling flat or boring. A few solutions have come out to resolve this problem, including the Tremol-no, and the HipShot Tremsetter, etc. I’ve personally used the Tremol-no on a few of my guitars, and it’s a great contraption once you have it all set up properly. You don’t have to do any permanent surgery to your guitar either. For example, listen to the song “How Soon is Now?” by The Smiths. The first thing you’ll hear is a guitar riff that’s played through a tremolo effect. Without this effect, the guitar riff would be pretty boring (sorry, Johnny Marr). Hand vibrato is the technique where you vibrate the guitar strings with your fretting hand to produce vibrato.

If you do experience unwanted movement with the Tremol-No, it is likely caused by the setup of the Tremol-No or by an issue with the guitar itself.
