About this deal

One thing that I will say without any spoilers is that this marriage of convenience does not go down like most other books with that trope. This one threw me for a LOOP.šŸ¤Æ In the present day, a lot of the first 35% or so of the book was really sad because we get both POVs and can see that they are both clearly still in love with the other but not wanting to admit it since they are both hurt over the past. Instead of being honest with each other, they choose to try and prove how much they are over the other person by talking about the other people theyā€™ve slept with, and in Lilah's case, the dates she was planning to go on. There was a lot of internal dialogue in Lilah's chapters about her miscarriage and subsequent depression, and about how she felt like she wasn't good enough for Dante, and about how her they couldn't make a baby together (essentially assuming that one miscarriage meant she'd never be able to have a healthy pregnancy with him), and honestly it all felt very over the top to me. I don't want to downplay the impact that a miscarriage can have on someone, but to be 18 years old and miscarry an unplanned pregnancy and then let it be still impacting your relationships with everyone around you more than 5 years later even though she's been in therapy all that time seemed unrealistic to me. NOW where shall I start this is a marriage of convenience with a extremely possessive and jealous MMC so if thatā€™s what your into then youā€™ll love this because AS YOU ALL KNOW THATS MY CRAPšŸ„¹ Iā€™m being honest when I say I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever been so angry at a book before (or if I was I canā€™t remember). I just cannot for the life of me understand why this man could not COMMUNICATE!! Sheā€™s about to tell you she loves you or that she could and she wants to have your child. And instead of telling her ā€˜i really love you regardless of the willā€™ you make her think youā€™re going to impregnate her stepsister and she canā€™t divorce you. Iā€™m honestly flabbergasted.

Not to mention the fact that he was apparently in the military but is now working in a private contract with the government but is also the son of a major mob boss who no one knows heā€™s related to? Againā€¦ sureā€¦ The spice: it was fine. The dirty talk was pretty good, but the buildup of these two reconnecting didnā€™t really land with me because again, I hated Jax. Reverie is an enemies-to-lovers office romance with some steam. It is the second novel in the Stonewood Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. Brey was a strong female lead. After going what she went through growing up and loosing her mom, she still manages to finish college and stand up for herself and more importantly become herself. little girl squealing as her uncle danced her around in circles and threw her in the air for everyone to see. I swear my freaking ovaries almost burst while watching him.ā€ - itā€™s not just your ovaries count me inšŸ˜šŸ„°

I was team Jett all the way as he was always honest with her. And for her to allow her past cancer be dropped on his face in a board meeting is so foolish of her, what did she expect? I totally agree with what he says to her after. 2 things especially; Aubrey and Jax's story spanned for more than a decade. They met as children, but a tragic circumstance pulls them apart. Although both fought their feelings for years and were caught in a web of lies and deceit, some things are inevitable and so was them coming together at last. Thereā€™s only one woman youā€™re going to have to see around the family for the rest of your life attached to me and thatā€™s my wife,ā€

After leaving one night without a word Aubrey built up walls around her heart. Then six years pass. She swears nothing will change and she ain't going down that road again. So much of this story didn't make sense. So many characters behaved in ways that made them impossible to like and difficult to understand why they would do certain things. This book will have your emotions all over the place and I found myself really rooting for them both. These characters have been through so much together and you could really feel for them as if they were real. Jax ran into that burning house without a second thought and saved that young woman life, little did he know the affect it would have on both of them. She is his life, he is her saviour. Also, it is said in Evie's statement of her past trauma that she was assaulted but it wasn't just assault, it was rape. The sex scenes were hot and great! But the relationship just put a bad taste in my mouth. He didnā€™t seem dominant to me outside of the bedroom-just inconsiderate but pretending he was. I can see that she cares for him but i unfortunately cannot be convinced he really cares for her.
