Though designated for a first quarter 2018 release, Starscream's wave reached U.S. store shelves in December 2017. The box features new art of Skywarp with Earthrise inspired detailing in robot and vehicle mode laid over a scene of Autobot City. Starscream is armed with a pair of missile launchers that mount on his arms in robot mode, and under his wings in jet mode, with a pair of specialized projectiles for each. In jet mode, two short " cluster bomb" projectiles are fitted into the launchers to make them resemble the drop tanks a real F-15 carries, while in robot mode, they are replaced with the long barrels of Starscream's null-rays. The original Diaclone version of the mold featured spring-loaded firing mechanisms in these launchers; while this feature was removed for the Hasbro release of the toy, it was left intact for the Takara version, and all subsequent reissues.

Swing each leg up out to the sides, then swing them down at the knee joint to make each leg an "L" shape. Part of the second wave of Takara's Robotmasters toys, Starscream is a re-imagining of the original Generation 1 figure, retaining its basic transformation scheme, but designed to be closer to the animation model, with greater articulation and integrated parts that do not require detachment during transformation. The only pieces that now need to be removed are Starscream's null-ray rifles, which move from his wings to his arms. He has three peg-holes on each arm, allowing the null-rays to be mounted on his shoulders, on his forearms, or in his fists. These holes are also designed to accommodate the generic spring-loaded missile launcher weapon included with Robotmasters G1 Convoy, Beast Convoy and Beast Megatron. This mold was later redecoed to make King Atlas. The toy doubles as the Starscream drones in Wings Universe and as an unnamed character in 2019 IDW continuity. The peg holes featured on Starscream's shoulders are hexagonal as opposed to circular, which means that the Null Rays are prone to popping off when rotated onto that peg hole.Some fans may not be crazy about the Classics Starscream engineering being partly recycled (to me it's no big deal). The Transformers: The Movie is the only Transformers media that was available in stores for, like, a decade. Folks know their Galvatron. But let’s poke at the corners of what he brings us in Earthrise, OK? The fun part is spending too much money on Unite Warriors 'Screams so that you can have an all-Starscream combiner.The waist/hip piece is different, featuring a similar shape to the equivalent piece on Siege Megatron but less greebles and mechanical details. The scheming Decepticon air commander, Starscream, converts into classic G1 jet mode in 30 steps and comes with 2 weapon accessories. that said, Earthrise made some weird design choices like carrying forward that collar from the deluxe (which seem unnecessary based on people modding it off) and the somewhatstrange execution of the the thrust nozzles/feet.
