About this deal

His eyes were thin narrow slits. They glittered in the moonlight. Behind them, in pain, hid the wolf. She would draw the wolf out, snapping."

Ok. I am almost totally convinced now that a Splatterpunk novel that also happens to be a good book simply does not exist. This was disastrous. All of the characters are interchangeable. All of the dudes could be called Chad and all of the girls, Britney, and it'd be no harder to tell them apart than it already is. I mean literally, the only way I could tell one of the Chad's from the others is that Chad #2 wore glasses, and actually I think they broke at one point and now I'm not entirely sure he even wore them in the first place. Several of his works have inspired movies. His short story 'The Box' inspired a segment of the anthology horror film XX. The tribe is led by Woman (Pollyanna McIntosh) as well as a male. There are a bunch of children that are with them and the teen girl that David saw. Woman is mad that the baby died as they needed it for a ritual. They're then told to go out and get another baby, or they're going to be cursed. Why? That's easy to answer - food. They are cannibals and they know nothing besides breeding, hunting, killing and eating. And it turns out that there's not much to swoon over, if anything. The storyline is absolutely basic - a group of friends go to a small coastline town in Maine for a vacation, where they are targeted by a group of inbred, cannibalistic savages, who live in a small cave and go out hunting at night. Such plot might have been original or groundbreaking in 1980, but since then it has been done to death (get it?) in horror movies and novels. The characters are cardboard and boring, the most interesting being the savages. The novel is driven almost entirely by the horrific acts of violence, described in gruesome detail. The violence is extreme and the author pulls absolutely no punches, but that's pretty much all the is to it.I was going to say all this, but then I glanced up at the technical information in this IMDb entry. 100 minutes, it says. A hundred! But my UK rented copy was only 76 minutes; both the sleeve and the DVD timer confirm it. That's a quarter of the film gone! No wonder the plot seems sketchy, and you can't follow what's happening. This edition is slightly different than the original American edition, but not as complete as The Unexpurgated Edition. En fin, salvajismo puro. Como una peli de serie B a altas horas de la madrugada que no se guarda ni un detalle. Morbosidad truculenta no apta para estómagos sensibles. Es lo que es, y la he disfrutado. Offspring can only be enthusiastically recommended to people who have read and enjoyed the book; at least they have the luxury of being able to fill in the blanks, since what's on the screen is far too brief and incomprehensible to adequately encompass this tale. Those who are merely looking for a gory and slippery romp will find plenty to keep them amused here, but even with the ample red sauce on display, the terse and befuddling presentation will make this a tough sell for the uninitiated.

His decision to eventually concentrate on novel writing was partly fueled by a preference for work that offered stability and longevity. Spree Killer: The main antagonists in The Lost and Joyride are these. Both are psychopathic young men based on real-life murderers, although only Joyride was inspired by an actual spree murder. Sadly the story was wasted: it was extremely predictable, the character are more complex but Ketchum spent more time building them up and forgot the gore and disturbing scenes that were the strong point of the last book. Don't get me wrong, there are some pretty nasty scenes but they don't come even close to the cruelty and detail shown in Off Season, I found some of these scenes to be tuned down copies of some of the previous book.
