The comic format allows for characters to arrive, take part in the action, and depart without much backstory or in-depth conversations. I’m not really sure who the audience for this is as hardcore Star Wars fans will have already seen the show, and I can’t see this appealing to a more casual fan. If you haven’t watched the TV show it may be a bit difficult to follow as it’s missing many more frames compared with the manga.However, baby yoda is drawn in a way that is so damn ugly its hard just looking at him he looks like a dried up stewie griffin that has been turned into a goblin, I'd take that animatronic puppet any day. If I have one complaint about this book it is there is nothing new in this book that was not in the TV show. What can I say, I loved The Mandalorian, and this book contains all the important and dialogue of the first half of season one of the show.I also wish there were "more" added (inner dialogues, not-seen scenes) than just the drawn visuals of shown visuals the audience has already visualized with their vision. This is literally a scene for scene, almost shot for shot retelling of the first four episodes of the season. The artwork is decent, but a lot of the story is left to still images without any dialogue or description, and thus, parts of the story are skipped or just pretty vague. I didn't read the description carefully and believed this might be further adventures of the Mandalorian.Barnes does a respectable job with the script and Jeanty’s artwork is gorgeous, but the nature of the show simply doesn’t work as a comic. Actually watching the show is better, but if you need a quick refresher or don't have access to Disney+, then this is a great way to experience the hit show and cultural phenomenon that is The Mandalorian.
