About this deal

This novel isn't just a sequel; it's a continuation of a journey that reminds us that life's path is rarely linear. Whilst I'm aware this book is also a fiction and should be a fantasy, it really holds a mirror up to us as a society. It was just as funny and relatable as the first one and was great to catch up with how nell and her life was progressing since the first instalment and was like having a catch up with an old friend. When you get these kind of haphazard rom-coms (a genre I will be trademarking) you expect them to be fun and silly and light-hearted. I like that this is a realistic and relatable book with characters that are experiencing the same problems as all the rest of us. More Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up" by Alexandra Potter is an absolute gem that had me hooked from the very beginning. This is an absolutely fantastic follow up to Confessions of a 40 Year Old F*** Up, I knew before going into this one that I was going to love it just as much as the first book.

Nell continues to navigate her forties, feeling like a failure, mourning the life she left behind and trying to move forwards but something is holding her back and in this novel she has to face that. Galvenokārt man ne līdz galam patika tas, ka viss Penelopes un Edvarda attiecībās notika tādā kā paātrinājumā. Mike Gayle, author of All The Lonely People Nell’s journey to mid-life happiness is hilarious, moving and filled with clear-eyed wisdom about what it means to be a woman of any age, proving that the best happy ever afters come when you fall in love with life. I doubt there are many who could answer in the affirmative but that’s what makes it such a big adventure. I can't tell you how happy I was to be able to catch up with Nell - I adored "Confessions of a Forty - Something. Thankfully Nell has Cricket by her side to help her through as well as her friends, but they're each dealing with their own issues. And with it all came the realization that lots of people felt like a bit of f**k up, she wasn't alone: she'd found her tribe.

With thanks to Netgalley,Alexandra Potter and Pan MacMillan for my chance to read and review this book.

When everything goes tits up, do you fall apart or jump on a plane to LA with Cricket (an eighty-something widow and your BFF)? And then there’s the ‘unexpected baggage’, things you thought you’d dealt with and suddenly find that you haven’t. Another piece of sage advice I loved, coming from Nell’s eighty-something, ex-actress friend, oddly known as Cricket, was ‘Don’t worry about getting older, worry about becoming dull,’ although even she admits ‘ageing is not for sissies. I’ve done it myself: posted the photo of four smiling faces with a ‘what a lovely day with besties – and so lucky with the weather.
