Frodo Baggins, despite being the obvious focal point of the story, isn't all that fleshed out, and he certainly isn't as prominent or in the middle of danger to the same degree he finds himself with each concurrent entry in the saga. Our review of The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Edition on Blu-ray follows after the jump. A journey that will take nearly ten hours time in human years, unless one pauses to take a burrito break. Bilbo and the Dwarves escape the giant Spiders and Wood-elves of Mirkwood before encountering the mysterious Bard, who smuggles them into Lake-town.

So ‘King was always better-looking than ‘Towers, even if the difference between those two film presentations was always negligible in comparison with the difference between ‘Towers and ‘Fellowship. Whilst the individual scores may have only just skimmed over the 9/10 mark (particularly for the first two movies), the overall score really deserves a perfect 10 for providing us with eleven-and-a-half hours of sonic bliss. Not that you’d notice, unless you were a) a massive fan or b) watching the two Blu-rays simultaneously for cross-comparison – but that doesn’t detract from the fact that there has been a change. There's definitely some differences in color timing on the extended Blus but not nearly as bad as some frothing-at-the-mouth reveiwers say; at least, not on my screen. tracks the new outfits, while in this section one can also access Design Galleries, which has sections for "The Peoples of Middle Earth," "The Realms of Middle Earth," and "Miniatures.This fan's favorite literary giant became a fan favorite cinematic giant immediately, but will it be a gigantic Blu-ray system seller?

This was accurate; I compared the Extended Edition Blu-ray to the theatrical version and definitely sensed a stronger green tone in some sequences. Where the previous release boasted intermittent scenes of excellence, but frequent lacklustre moments, this new transfer maintains a much higher overall standard throughout the runtime. and it reveals the labor that went into the film's 1,488 special-effects shots, more than the two previous films combined.covers all the Kiwi locations of the third film, while Middle Earth Atlas allows the user to track the paths followed through Middle Earth in the course of the movie. Let's just say, if there's anything you ever wanted to know about the saga and the making of it, you'll find it contained within these special features.
