Amrut presents this product as a humble tribute to the Indian farmer, who has grown this barley with care and affection with which he has tilled the soil. It is marketed without an age statement and has been matured for approximately four years before it is bottled at 46% abv. While the whisky threatens to be completely overpowering, the balance on the finish is nothing short of ground breaking.

According to head of international operations Ashok Chokalingam, "In our belief, it is not all about the influence of Sherry in the whisky. Radhakrishna died in 1976, and his son assumed the role of chairman and managing director of the company. Amrut's 3rd release in this series, Kadhambam means 'mixture' or 'combination', and this Amrut is a vatting of normal and peated Amrut that started life out in ex-oloroso casks before being transferred first into brandy casks, then into rum casks (bo.Amrut strived to provide a better product that would meet global requirements and employed the help of whisky experts from Scotland to perfect the processes.

Amrut Distillery in Bangalore, India is one of the great success stories of world whisky and proof that excellent whisky can be produced anywhere in the world if the approach is right. A single cask richly peated Indian single malt from Amrut, drawn from a single Port pipe which is one of the largest cask types used for maturing whisky. The whisky is generally aged for four-and-a-half years, although it may be higher for some variants. To retain the natural character of this oak aged Indian Malt Whisky it is not chill filtered and is bottled in its natural colour.

To create Fusion, both unpeated Indian barley and peated Scottish barley are distilled and matured separately in American oak barrels for more than four years.According to Neelakanta Jagdale, "The alcoholic beverages industry was not a priority in the country. Established by Shri J N Radhakrishna, the company started blending and bottling various alcoholic beverages. Following the UK launch, the brand spread across Western Europe and the Scandinavian countries within two years.

Surinder Kumar, the master blender at Amrut Distilleries, has estimated that one year of barrel-ageing in India is equal to three years of ageing in Scotland. With water, it becomes a different beast altogether, the intense peaty notes reminiscent of peppered smoked fish. The fraction lost to evaporation during ageing, known as the angels' share, is also higher in India, at 11–12% per year, than in Scotland, where the annual evaporative loss is about 2%.

The nose has aromas of vanilla, citrus, raisins and malted barely with a touch of saline minerality. According to Neelakanta Jagdale, "From a marketing perspective, we thought if our product had to pass the test, why not do so in the toughest location.
