About this deal

The author provides family trees at the beginning of the novel and a glossary of terms at the end, both of which are helpful resources. Casati reveals a Clytemnestra we've never met before: fiercely intelligent, passionate, and loving - and willing to do anything to avenge the ones she loves -- Naomi Krupitsky, New York Times bestselling author of THE FAMILY Ablaze with moments of deep tenderness and visceral ferocity, Casati's Clytemnestra gives the phrase 'fight like a girl' its rightfully heroic and empowering meaning!

Clytemnestra’s Bind by Susan Wilson is the first instalment in a new epic three-part series, perfect for fans of Circe and The Song of Achilles. Tormented by her loss, she vows to do all she can to protect the children born from her unhappy marriage to him. They are all loved, all except Helen, by the King, as he thinks Leda (Helen and Clytemnestra’s mother) had taken with another man to beget this daughter.

Clytemnestra's Bind is a bold and brutal first-person retelling that redefines her story, unveiling the untold depths of her soul and the legacy she forged as a mother, wife, and queen. This book delves into Clytemnestra as an individual, following her girlhood and progressing into her forcible marriage to Agamemnon.

And that is most of her life – her childhood and first marriage in a Sparta where the girls learn to fight as well as the boys; the many years. It's a unique approach, and an effective framework for tension building, even when we know how it ends. This first book follows her life during her first marriage and the start of her second, the birth of her children, and her husband leaving for the Trojan war. She has a degree in journalism from Napier University and, in preparation for writing her novels, gained a diploma in classical studies from the Open University. In the course of the story, we meet several prominent characters from the Greek myths such as Helen of Troy and Odysseus among others.I can barely remember the Greek myths I read as a child and have enjoyed rediscovering them through books like this. This is the latest in a series of books about her and her more famous sister, Helen–but the one that stands out to me as both the most appealing to a grimdark audience and the one with the clearest focus.

The depth of the relationships, and the flaws of each character further contribute to the rich tapestry, which eventually flows to a tension point of final confrontation and retribution. This dazzling debut is an imaginative retelling of Ancient Greece’s most infamous protagonist’s life and legacy. A spellbinding reimagining of the story of Elektra, one of Greek mythology's most infamous heroines, from Jennifer Saint, the author of the beloved international bestseller, Ariadne. Clytemnestra marries Tantalus, the king of Maeonia whom she loves, but then she is taken by Agamemnon and faces much loss. I will say that I was not expecting to like the book as much as I did because the beginning of the book did start out a little slow.

We see the trauma she suffers at his hand, capped off by the sacrifice of her eldest daughter so that Agamemnon’s ships could catch a wind to Troy. Every word is meaningful, and nearly every chapter holds a quote that made me pause and consider it, both in the context of the story and in the context of my own life.

Crafted with page-turning suspense, Casati spins a mesmerizing story of an ambitious warrior queen who must use all her skill to protect herself and those she loves from men who view women not as equals , but as pawns to be sacrificed upon the altars of lust, greed, and fame . Casati’s careful consideration of different perspectives allows the reader to sympathize deeply with Clytemnestra. Not to mention Clytemnestra herself is definitely not perfect — she has definite favourites, preferring Iphigenia over Electra and Orestes. And the story of her parents are very important to the girl, her heritage, reminding her forever of where she came from and what she carries in her veins, not just the royalty, but the strength, endurance, and fortitude to be great, the greatest of all others.Clytemnestra was Spartan trained to fight from a young age and hardened into the tough woman that Sparta needed to continue to remain strong.
