About this deal

Allowing both time and our unique Demerara climate to take their course, we lay down our oak barrels for decades at a time to imbue El Dorado with unsurpassed dimension and depth. The El Dorado 12 Year Old possesses a rich fruity bouquet of explosive flavours, owing largely to the estery richness acquired from the EHP Wooden Coffey and Metal Coffey Stills. Real colour, not over caramel like other rums, and on top of that the taste is flat out great, drank neat I prefer it to many whiskys, and whilst I definitely consider it a sin, one rather tipsy night I may have mixed it with Pepsi Max (real keto hours), and even that was beautiful. Crafted using primarily spirit produced at Uitvlugt and the Savale stills in Guyana, along with Enmore's wooden Coffey still, this rum encapsulates a harmonious fusion of different distillation methods. Laid down in oak barrels for at least 12 years, this rum has been blended to perfection using a combination of the Enmore and Diamond Coffey Stills, and the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still.

These were distilled in three types of stills: the Enmore wooden still (the last of its kind in the world), a French four-column still and an Albion Savalle still. El Dorado 21 years is aimed at connoisseurs, and its subtle flavors are best perceived when the rum is enjoyed drop by drop, sec. To achieve the superb colour, smooth taste and full fragrant aroma, the rums are matured in 45 gallon oak casks in an ideal natural climate for ageing - within six degrees of the equator on the tropical north coast of South America, blended to perfection by master blenders. Er schmeckt mir etwas besser als der 15jährige El Dorado, welcher mit herberer Eichennote und längerem Abgang daher kommt. The colour also leads you to believe this will be a richer rum (and I believe caramel colouring is still added.

By 1780, there were over 300 distilleries producing their own unique rums, each with its own marque identifying its origin. The distinctive El Dorado flavour characterised by a deep mellowness, is a product of three centuries of time-honoured tradition, the handing down of skills from generation to generation and preserving the character within. The county of Demerara in Guyana has been steeped in the history of sugar and rum production since the 17th century.

The story of rum in Guyana started in the 1640s with the introduction of sugar cane by the early European settlers. Distinctive and different - perhaps it's those wooden stills - this is layers of molasses, a dry but gentle woodiness, and noticable edge of something almost liquorice.
