About this deal

Soft: The material should feel plush against your skin but not trap so much heat that it’s uncomfortable to wear. The Travelon Deluxe Wrap-n-Rest Pillow may look like it’s strangling you to death, but the shape provides excellent support to prevent your head from falling forward. Stuff pouch will compress the pillow to 1/4 its size. The zipped micro-fiber cover is plush and soft + removable for washing. Short of scoring a row of empty seats—dream on!—your best bet for getting at least a little sleep while flying is a travel pillow. So which ones are actually worth taking on a flight? We asked our frequent flying editors to test out the most reviewed styles. The best travel pillow to buy in 2023 at a glance

Overall, the Travelrest pillow is a compact yet comfortable travel pillow best suited for flights and road trips. The pillow is a winner in terms of portability and head support. I highly recommend purchasing the velour cover along with the Travelrest, as it makes it even more comfortable. I also will add that it would be nice if Travelrest could make the add on cover built into the normal Travelrest pillow. Instead of making it an add on, it would probably be easier for the user if it was pre-built-in, or simply sold together. For more fashion, grooming and technology releases delivered straight to your inbox, sign up for our GQ Recommends newsletter. Travelrest® ALL-IN-ONE Premium Travel Pillow/Neck Pillow

Every pillow on this list has been independently tested and reviewed by our editors. When testing, we look for quality, design features and value for money, as well as overall function and visual appeal. Cabeau Evolution's S3 travel pillow Inflatable models, like the Sunany travel pillow, are great options for weight- and space-conscious travelers. The unique shape of the Travelrest pillow when inflated makes it not the most versatile. Other than for it’s intended purpose as a way to support your head when sitting, there aren’t many other ways to use the pillow. The Travelrest travel pillow is much better suited for use in planes and cars rather than at home, hence the name “Travelrest”. This isn’t a big complaint, but if you’re planning on using a pillow at home, you should probably go for the Cabeau pillow or J-Pillow.

The Travelrest pillow is the most compact of all the travel pillow’s I’ve reviewed (and I’ve reviewed a ton) thanks to it being inflatable. The Travelrest travel pillow is remarkably supportive and should stay in place as long as you’ve set it up properly and are placing your hand on the base of the pillow (this acts a bit like a counterweight). Since it is an inflatable pillow, it isn’t quite as plush as the Comfort Master pillow, but the add on cover does a good job at making up for that as I’ll mention later. Great for all travel, working at your computer, camping, lounging on the couch, watching TV + many other uses. I was really impressed by the ease at which I could inflate the Travelrest pillow. With just around 3 to 4 breaths, I could get the Travelrest fully inflated.

New York City, New York Las Vegas, Nevada Chicago, Illinois Miami, Florida San Francisco, California Boston, Massachusetts Palm Springs, California London, United Kingdom Paris, France Los Angeles, CA Grip/traction: Your head will likely move around a bit while sleeping on a plane, especially if there’s turbulence. So any kind of grip or traction around the bottom of the pillow will help it stay in place and keep you snoozing. One other aspect which I’m concerned about is whether I’d want to take the effort to set up the pillow while in a cramped plane. It can be a hassle to attach the straps and inflate the pillow without elbowing the person next to you. A nearly perfect pillow for travel, this model is supportive, comfortable against the skin, and easy to clean thanks to its removable cover

Giving your in-flight relaxation a first-class upgrade, Slip’s luxurious travel set goes beyond the memo by factoring in its market-leading silk eye and face masks for a peaceful travel experience that spans the senses. Made from high-quality silk, all three are soft to the touch, while the travel pillow employs the same hair and skin benefits as the enduringly popular silk pillowcase, so you can really catch some beauty sleep on your travels. Sleeping styles: It should also accommodate people who move their head in any direction while they sleep. It should also work in a window, a middle, or an aisle seat. I really dig the soft exterior of the pillow and how the memory foam inserts give an illusion that the whole pillow is made of memory foam. One for not just the plane but also the hotel, this flat pillow from Snoooze is particularly suited to business or first class passengers flying in a flatbed. Danish designer Ann Sjogreen Sanger worked with scientists, sleep experts and leading UK manufacturers to create the two travel pillows – a full size and mini option. Both are machine washable, come with a soft 100 per cent cotton pillow case and roll up into compact travel bags – the mini fits into a cylindrical bag that’s 30cm by 11cm.
