York: It’s Far More Thrilling Than You Think
Are you thinking about taking a weekend trip to a city in the UK? It’s probably not at the top of your list, but you might want to consider visiting York. The city has a lot of charm and, as you’re about to discover, some wonderful adventures for you to explore.
Try Axe Throwing
If you’re planning a stag do party, then York is a popular location. There are various reasons for this but one of the main selling points is the Viking heritage of the city. York is perhaps one of the only places in the UK where you can discover what it feels like to be a Viking. We can’t promise that you’ll grow hair or a beard like Chris Hemsworth in ‘Thor.’ Nor will you be able to conquer untamed lands, but you will be able to discover what it’s like to throw an axe. This is a highly rewarding experience, particularly if you manage to hit some of the targets.
Go To The UK’s Largest Inflatable Theme park
Have you heard of Inflatanation? They’re scattered across the UK and the best way to describe them is that they are like massive indoor bouncy castles. There’s probably one near you but the one in York is particularly impressive because it’s two storeys. We know what you’re thinking: surely this is for kids? Well, we’re glad to say you’re mistaken. Inflatanation have adult-only nights where there’s even a bar for drinks. So, you can bounce, listen to music and remember what it’s like to be a kid again all in an adult environment. What more could you ask for?
Walk The Walls
If you’re feeling a little more mature and you love architecture then York also has a wonderful treat for you to explore. The city is surrounded by a massive wall. It stretches a tremendous 3.4 km and provides you with some fantastic views that you won’t want to miss. It can be quite a trek so feel free to complete it in sections rather than all at the same time. Particularly, if you’re planning on visiting in the middle of the summer season. It’s not just about the wall of course. The whole city has beautiful architecture and it feels like you’ve stepped back in time.
You might also want to consider visiting the York Minister. This is by far the largest medieval cathedral in Northern Europe. The Gothic architecture is also incredibly beautiful and guaranteed to provide sparks on innovation.
A Sweet Trip
Of finally, you might want to visit York’s own chocolate factory. York is embedded in the chocolate industry like no other city in the UK. Six million Kit Kats are made in the city every day and that’s just one of the many fascinating facts you can learn more about at the factory. You can also taste as much chocolate as you like!
As you can see, there are numerous wonderful reasons why you should take a trip to York. It’s a beautiful city with a wonderful past and there’s definitely more than meets the eye to this stunning location.
