The Botanist Birmingham

On the 2nd of November I was invited to go a pay a visit to the Birmingham Botanist to try out their new Autumn menu. Being a Saturday night I knew it was going to busy. We were greeted by a lovely bouncer on the day who wished us a good evening. As we walked in the front doors, you were instantly showcased with the beautiful pub feeling atmosphere. Plants hanging from the ceiling and in pots on the floor. Though it was a Saturday night which made it so busy it didn’t stop the warm and inviting atmosphere from the staff. I was welcomed by a lady on the front desk, who seated us instantly as we walked in.
Pub styled decor with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Looking around from our table, the decor was that of a proper English pub. Very earthy and warm tones, with a hint of botanical. Being a Saturday night it was very busy and loud. Though that didn’t stop the warm ambience and atmosphere showcased around the venue. Every corner you looked was some kind of plant based object or plant, which was a really beautiful touch.
After being seated we were handed the New Autumn menus, along with the drink menus. I wasn’t instantly drawn to the cocktails menu as they sounded so fruity. Each of the cocktails had their own unique way of being presented. I had the Raspberry Disaranno sour cocktail which had an amazing effect with dry ice when it was served, I found it so amazing that mine was also served in a plant pot which made the experience of drinking a cocktail so different. Matt had the Miracle Bulb which was Gin and lots of flowery liqueurs. After choosing our cocktails it was time to choose our food. With so many different choices to choose from, it was a hard choice.
For the starter we decided to have the cheesy garlic bread. When it came out, it was served in the cutest little wicker basket. For the Mains I had a 10 oz steak which was served with chips and a choice of sauce. I had the peppercorn sauce, which tasted amazing. Matt had an amazing surf and turf hanging kebab. This was served on an amazing skewer which you can pour your sauce down onto, which then lay upon your chips.
Both mains were nicely presented and definitely went down a treat. Among the mass amounts of food for meat eaters, there are also options for Vegans such as; Moving Mountains burger with pulled barbecue jackfruit and the Tofurky sausage hanging kebab with maple barbecue sauce. However, After filling up on so much bread with the starters, I couldn’t finish all of my steak. Which was such a shame because it really was a very tasty piece of steak. However, the overall meal was really filling and so tasty. Check out the menu here: https://thebotanist.uk.com/assets/files/uploads/The%20Botanist%20Autumn%20Menu%20Book.pdf
The whole experience was lovely and I will certainly be going back again.
