About this deal

It was like Terminator… if Terminator was a book set in Victorian London and they stopped during each fight to discuss what they had learned. lol* Even though the focus is on their friendship there is still some sort of chemistry between those two. The most infuriating character of all has to be the handsome yet morally corrupt Will Herondale, who is similar to Jace, since Clare has raised so many questions about his elusive past and motives. There are quite a few back stories to each character that we get tiny little glimpses of now and then which I especially liked.

The Victorian setting gave interesting background and customs but there was a LOT of unnecessary description. XD They care about each other deeply and they have an amazing chemistry, yet Will is keeping Tessa at a distance and never lets her get too close to him. Will doesn’t hold Jace’s attraction, and whereas his lines sometimes caused me to smile a little, they never made me laugh out loud. Y'all better settle in, grab a snack, some tea and a comfy blanket, because I've got a lot to say about this one!

When insulted by Jessamine, Tessa displays her ability to the occupants of the Institute for the first time. On April 12, 2013, it was announced that Stephanie Sanditz was hired to pen the script for the film adaptation of the book. Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. Meanwhile, Charlotte learns from Axel Mortmain, Nate's former boss, that he was forced to work for Alexei de Quincey, head of London's vampire clan and the presumed identity of the Magister, leader of the secretive Pandemonium Club.

Like, the Shadowhunters are supposed to be the “good guys” who uphold the laws and values, but they are also completely classist and elitist. Later, a vampire named Camille Belcourt visits the Institute and tells Charlotte that de Quincey is holding a party where his clan will prey on humans, in breach of the Accords with the Clave.

I liked the creepy clockwork army – that’s where my terminator references are coming from haha – and this expansion of the Shadowhunter’s world. After the death of her aunt, Tessa Gray is sent a ticket to travel to London by her brother Nathaniel. The characters blow hot and cold so often that most of the time I was so frustrated - Clare really is a fantastic tension builder.

Can she possibly do any worse to draw attention upon herself and Will by screaming and being impulsive and ACTING LIKE A FIVE YEARS OLD KID IN GENERAL! Oh, now I can see that all these Shadowhunters are a bunch of wimps, they can't even stop a rude girl from insulting their own guest, and we're supposed to believe they are the fierce protectors who stood between humans and demons? I thought this book was much more mature than the TMI series, so I'm very much looking forward to reading the next two Infernal Devices installments.I couldn't remember a great deal about her other series having read it so long ago so dithered about whether I'd be wasting my time on this one.
