I generally mix up some liquid highlighter + two different shades of foundation to get my perfect match, regardless of how pale or tan I am, but that's incompatible with how a cushion foundation is packaged and used. It has a thin, runny consistency so it doesn’t feel heavy or clog your skin even when you build it up. I would also recommend carrying blotting sheets or translucent powder with you because the glow increases as the day progresses. I do have a big gripe about the stupid decision not to have the shade name or number anywhere on the packaging.

A normal bottle of foundation generally contains about 30 ml of product, but if you lift up the foundation-saturated cushion, there's only a bit of foundation under there. Brands like MAC and YSL are launching cushion foundations, and Yves Rocher has also started offering a one (the Pure Light cushion foundation). APPLICATION: You lightly press the puff into the cushion which delivers enough product to cover one half of the face. The foundation's buildable coverage allows you to create a sheer, luminous finish, or build to a medium coverage depending how many layers you wish to apply.
