I enjoy this series so much because of the unique setting and because it is such a fresh take on the classic female detective stories. More often than not, it’s not the gentle story/investigation unfurling that draws you in, but rather the keen observations that make you smile, the pearls of wisdom that cause you to pause and ponder. Over the years Mma Makutsi has promoted herself from secretary, to assistant detective, to co-detective, to co-director. Mma Makutsi would open up the office and together they would tackle some of the administrative tasks that had been piling up and needed to be attended to.
