About this deal

An incredible, beautiful written page turner, I didn’t want the book to end- and not only because the story shows, photos which are interesting and was very suspense that keeps you riveted from the start to the end. From there she and her sisters became slave labour in a munitions factory, and then faced a death march that they barely survived. I discovered Lily and her great-grandson Dov on TikTok a few months ago and spend many many hours watching Lily talk and answer questions regarding the Holocaust. Review to I know it is not correct English to use the same word twice in a sentence but I hope you will forgive me in this instance because the word is so appropriate.

A heart-wrenching and ultimately life-affirming Holocaust survivor story that demonstrates the power of love to see us through the darkest of times. Dov, equally committed to sharing Lily’s story, is leading the way as a role-model for young people across the world for Holocaust education and remembrance. I've heard this before, and also that it is so important to the Jewish Community to bear witness to these testimonies. For those who already read other biography like hers (because yes, it's a biography and NOT a fiction) you still gonna learn new thing that you never read or heard before. I love the responsibility of that, and while I am not Jewish, I have tried to do my part in that responsibility with my own children. The work was written in cooperation with her great grandson Dov Forman, who helped to her her story out there on social media and help with gaps in her memories. And having somehow survived, the difficulties of beginning new lives, finding safe places, overcoming haunting memories, and even still finding the strength to share their stories with us.

It’s emotional, it’s narrated in a way it makes the reader feel like we’re next to Lily having a conversation and listening to her experiences. Tracing her life from a happy childhood in Hungary to the harrowing losses experienced in Auschwitz, Lily Ebert’s memoir is a heart-breaking and unforgettable reminder of both the importance of remembering the Holocaust and the incredible power of hope. Your Grandson is a wonderful person who deserves the highest praise for encouraging and supporting you to tell your story and then find so many answers for you.

I knew that place very well and the people who lived there… I realized what they had done to those families being their neighbours. So I did not start reading this book without prior knowledge -to some degree - of survivors’ experiences. It’s disgusting and shocking that humans still are able to harbor so much hatred and do these things, and speaks volumes to the importance of brave souls like Lily who are willing to share their experiences to hopefully educate others and prevent future atrocities. Although all the books I have read have been based at the same concentration camp i find it astounding how different each persons version is. I finally finish reading it today, it a hard read but necessary to make sure no one forget about what happen and how cruel some people can be.

I saw Lily Ebert and her great grandson, Dov Forman, on The View around the time this book was published. The harsh reality of the camps should never disappear from our hearts and minds for fear that racial hatred could strike our lives at any time.
