About this deal

D’vok has built his fortress on Daethe and stripped the once-verdant world bare – and Saim-Hann have vowed to win it back.

A total of 3 Ranger upgrades and 3 Shroud Runner upgrades are listed giving you a nice selection of things to do. However, all the miniatures inside are not only new, as we mentioned above, but also the normal multi-part kits that you would expect to release later on separately as fully boxed sets. The Autarch’s staple options of a shuriken pistol and star glaive both get some improvements, with the former going up to AP-1 base and the latter no longer adding -1 to hit, so just a nice clean S6 AP-3 D2, but it’s the Aspect gear where big changes are afoot. You also get a 32-page Eldritch Omens booklet that outlines the narrative of the battle for Daethe in the war-torn Nachmund sector.

We’re also likely to see a Combat Patrol for both factions at some point in the future, especially given the hype surrounding this release. And with that, that’s enough about Elves, so it’s on to TheChirurgeon to talk about Chaos Space Marines. Eldritch Omens turns this on its head entirely, with only a single “old” figure in the box – the Forgefiend.

The Forgefiend and Maulerfiend retain their old Chaos Space Marines 8th edition datasheets, including a profile that boasts WS 4+ and BS 4+. Toughness-wise, their base profile isn’t super impressive (T4, 3+, 4+) but their Shroud Runner Cloaks kick this into high gear, allowing them to both benefit from Light Cover as if they were INFANTRY and sharing the Rangers ability to claim +2 from it, meaning they can sport a 2+ save against shooting. Very often these Battleboxes contain older models, however here with have a set that outside of the Forgefiend this is brand new stuff that is currently exclusive to the box!Within the swirling mass of the Nachmund Gauntlet, where Real Space meets the Warp, lies the planet Daethe. As mentioned above, the standouts in the box are definitely the Shroud Runners, both for their gameplay mechanics and the look of them.

Not content with simply being stealthy, the Aeldari are also bringing Shroud Runner jetbikes with them, high-speed firing platforms from which skilled snipers can pull off wicked trickshots. We mainly cover Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Age of Sigmar, Warmachine, Hordes, X-Wing, Infinity, Horus Heresy, and Star Wars Armada. THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES and the names of the characters, items, events and places therein are trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises under license to New Line Productions, Inc. As for the abilities, Ride The Wind gives a free guaranteed 6″ advance, making it even better and running all over the board. With a 36" range, this heavy weapon deals an extra mortal wound for each 6 rolled on the wound roll, making them the perfect snipers to plunk down in a safe position and start picking off your enemies. The Aeldari sprues, for example, are laden with parts, whilst the Forgefiend looks to be made of barely any parts whatsoever. a 32-page Eldritch Omens campaign book including new background, missions, and rules for both Craftworld Aeldari and Heretic Astartes units. In fact, for a lot of people this release may be more important than a new edition box as it heralds the relaunch of an entire – and much loved – range of miniatures. The Autarch comes with a full kit of various weapons to arm her with, so there's lots of room to customize. Each side also gets 2 unique relics, with the Eldar getting access to a cloak that makes unmodified hits and wounds against them fail on a 1-3 and a rather tasty x3 S AP-3 D2 glaive for the Autarch!

But straight off the datasheet she's equipped with a shuriken pistol, her brutal star glaive, and plasma grenades (though the stats for a plasma grenade are not included in her datasheet). Then there are five surreptitious new Rangers, and three new Shroud Runners – swift two-person jetbikes with a sharpshooter riding pillion. He then erects several Noctilith Crowns, dubbing them the "Lens Empyric", to harness the powers here. It’s safe to say that the Aeldari have come quite a long way in their design since their very first iteration – but elements of their design persist even now, 35 years later. Not the focus of any major releases, the denizens of the Craftworlds haven’t received much in the way of new models since Fourth Edition back in 2004-2008. That all seems set to change in 2022, with the new Eldritch Omens box coming in hard as the precursor to a major range re-launch for the Aeldari.
