London Calling…
On March the 18th, my boyfriend and I went on a little adventure to celebrate my birthday. With lots planned, we were so excited to get away and spend some quality time together. I was in fact, very poorly for the whole trip but that didn’t stop us from becoming tourists and exploring what London has to offer us.
Sunday the 18th we awoke and pulled back the curtains to snow, which put doubts in our mind whether we were able to get to the train station. But have no fear, Tom’s parents have a 4X4 which got us to the train station. In addition to the snow, I was also poorly. A long train and tube journey later, we were staying in Hyde Park. We had to find our way there. In Luke and Tom fashion we managed to catch the wrong tube and end up on the other side of Hyde Park. Which meant we had a 45-minute walk through icy London. Our hotel was the “Hyde Park superior apartments” which are located on a picturesque street just off from Hyde Park. Once settled, it was time to explore our surroundings as it was getting a little late for us to be venturing out into central London. Armed with snacks and drinks we headed back to our hotel to make sure we had an early night ready for our adventure on my birthday.
Monday morning, My birthday. I awoke to a Birthday banner and all my presents surrounding me. Tom had lugged all my presents down to London with him in his massive bag just so I had something to open on my actual birthday. Once I had opened my presents, we made sure we were up and ready for today’s adventure. London was very cold and with myself still feeling ill I didn’t really want to be in the cold for too long. Selfridges was our first stop. Tom had booked for a Birthday breakfast for me which was a lovely surprise. After our fine dining experience, we headed to Oxford Street to mooch around the shops for a little while. Killing time before we headed over to the Sky Garden for our booked time.
Once at the top of the Sky garden we were in awe of the views, taking hundreds of photos we decided to sit down and have a bit to eat and take in the views of London from the Sky. Once we had seen enough of the London skyline we headed out to further our adventure and ended up at the Tate museum, somewhere Tom had never been. We walked around and go excited when we saw there were swings which you could actually go on. So the inner child within me ran to the swings to have some fun! Following the excitement of the day, I was starting to get tired and was starting to feel really poorly. So we decided to head back to the hotel for a little while to try and make myself feel a little better. Tom had booked a fancy meal for us both in Kensington but unfortunately, I was just too poorly to go. However, I said I would go out but not far from the hotel which leads us to a little restaurant across the road from the hotel. We both had a good drink to celebrate my birthday. After stumbling back to the hotel, with a Mcflurries in hand, it was time for bed.
The second day of our Adventure in London was another packed day full of fun and laughs. We headed out to Camden, somewhere both myself and Tom love. The home place of Amy Winehouse, who if you know me holds a very dear place in my heart. While we were in Camden we found the most beautiful little vintage furniture shop, which we would love to go back to it when we have the car. I love Camden as it’s just a place you can lose yourself in for hours as all the shops are quirky and different and that’s what I love most about it. After we had basked in the quirkiness of Camden, we headed to go see Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. A quick photo opportunity when they decided to head to the Natural History Museum. I was amazed at just how many amazing things was in there. I was mostly impressed by the massive skeleton of a whale suspended from the beautiful old-fashioned ceiling.
But my favourite part of the experience was going to the dinosaur section. I’m a big kid at heart and anything to do with dinosaurs I’m most certainly there. After I had bored Tom to death it was time to move on. The Sun started to set in London city and so had our time being tourists as this was our final night. No night should end without a McDonalds in the hotel kind of night.
My time in London was amazing. I really enjoyed myself and spending some quality time with Tom was just beyond amazing. Even though I was poorly I enjoyed myself and never stopped laughing. Those are the kind of trips I enjoy the most. Tom really looked after me and I couldn’t ask for anything and really made this trip the best it could. He made me realise just how much I rely on him so much and how much he does for me. He’s beyond amazing ♥
