About this deal

Good and lighthearted read, only took me about 3 hours total to read! Got it for christmas and just started it on the 1st. It was a good break from the "Red Queen" book (#4) that I was reading, to give my brain a break (yes I read it right in the middle of the 4th book {I do it a lot}). Very nice meaning to friendship. All age appropriate! How will the Baby-sitters cope without Stacey? What kind of going-away present is good enough for someone as special as she is? But most important... My daughters blew through these books when we got them - all the rage in second and third grade. The stories are graphic novel remakes of the classic chapter book series by Ann Martin. Very innocent, mostly focuses on the drama of middle school girls' lives like friends, school, and family issues along with their cooperative babysitting business. The update could have added a bit more diversity to the characters, but solid reading and a great choice for a reluctant elementary reader. Claudia isn't worried when she hears her newest baby-sitting charge, Betsy Sobak, is a big practical joker. After all, how much harm can one little girl do?

The series is generally considered suitable for readers of all ages, particularly children and young adults with the primary targets being a middle-grade audience, typically ranging from 8 to 12 years old. However, many older readers also enjoy the books for their relatable characters and engaging storylines. The content is generally appropriate for all ages, with themes centered around friendship, responsibility, and problem-solving. The Baby-Sitters Club: Friends Forever: These novels are an extension of the original series, which focused on the original four members (Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, and Stacey). They were set following the fire at Mary Anne's house, which drastically impacted the lives of The Baby-Sitters Club members, and concluded with a final Super Special detailing the older club member's graduation from Stoneybrook Middle School. The graphic novels are perfect for those looking for a dose of nostalgia, want to introduce the series to a young reader, or are devastated that Netflix cancelled the live-action series after two seasons. But Karen's new grandmother is so different! Grandma B makes Karen listen to old music. And she teaches Karen funny dances, like the foxtrot. Stacey and Mary Anne are baby-sitting for the Pike family for two weeks at the New Jersey shore. Things are great in Sea City: There's a gorgeous house right on the beach, a boardwalk, plenty of sun and sand... and the cutest boy Stacey has ever seen! The girls are committed to each other, work hard, have a strong sense of responsibility, and like to have fun. They genuinely like babysitting and care about the kids. When Kristy Thomas has the great idea to form a baby-sitters club--a chance to earn money and spend time with her friends, all while doing something they each love to do--she has no idea how much the club will change everything. As the newest member of the BSC, Dawn is eager to prove herself. So when a big job comes along, she jumps at the chance to show everyone what she's made of. Claudia has always been the most creative kid in her class... until Ashley Wyeth comes along. Ashley's really different: She wears hippie clothes and has multiple earrings, and she's the most fantastic artist Claudia has ever met. Stoneybrook is a fictional suburban town in the state of Connecticut. It is the hometown of many of the characters in both The Baby-Sitters Club series and the Baby-Sitters Little Sister series as well. The town was based on Princeton, New Jersey where Ann M. Martin was born in.

Stacey's friends are crushed when they hear that Stacey's moving, Claudia most of all. Stacey was her first best friend. Mary Anne should never have thrown away that chain letter she got in the mail. Ever since she did, bad things have been happening to everyone in The Baby-sitters Club. With Halloween coming up, Mary Anne's even more worried -- what kind of spooky thing will happen next? In Raina Telgemeier's book Sisters, her teenage self's presents is "the newest Baby-Sitters Club book" for Christmas. So I finally got to this graphic novel version of the original book and there are multiple changes they made to this. While the overall plot is the same, numerous dialogues were either cut out or reduced greatly, which greatly helps in reading through at a faster pace. In doing so, they changed some of the wording a bit, possibly to give it a more "modern" update, along with the appearance of the girls as they wore clothing that resembles 2010s attire than 80s-styled. What I found to be a minor annoyance was that Scott was changed from a 17 year-old blonde lifeguard to a 15 year-old tanned brunette. Not sure if it's because a 13 year-old crushing on a 17 would sit uneasy today, but the way he's draw still makes him look older than 15. Additionally, conversations between Scott and Stacey were cut even more, so it didn't have the same impact as the original of a crush. The Pike family is taking a vacation to the beach, and Stacey and Mary Anne get to go along to help out! Two weeks of sun, sand . . . and the cutest lifeguard Stacey has ever seen! This book was really easy but enjoyable to read. I really like how this is a graphic novel version of the actual book. The pictures were really good a... In Dawn and the Impossible Three when Stacey and Dawn are counting the Pike kids, Vanessa Pike, is seen reading Ghosts, written by Raina Telgemeier, who was the original illustrator of the graphic novels. This likely might make fun of the Ghosts cameo of Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, Stacey, Dawn, Karen, and David Michael. But then Kristy gets another one of her great ideas. Why don't the Baby-sitters treat their moms -- and the mothers of the kids they sit for -- to a day off without any kids around?

It’s unclear why The Ghost at Dawn's House and Little Miss Stoneybrook ...and Dawn have not been adapted into graphic novels, but it's likely either due to plot or character reasons. Currently Dawn has only been the narrator of one book, while Mallory did not narrate a book until Mallory and the Trouble with Twins (her debut book was integrated into Dawn's). Karen thinks there's a ghost in her house! But she's never really seen the ghost of Old Ben Brewer -- until now. The Mancusis don't have any kids . . . but they sure have a lot of pets! So when they're desperate for a sitter, whom do they call? The Baby-sitters Club! I was delighted to see that the Baby-Sitters Club would be getting full colour graphic novels. I haven't read all of the Baby-Sitters Club, but I have... A graphic novel adapted and illustrated by Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile !Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century. Novels that focus on a spooky mystery, such as Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls and The Ghost at Dawn’s House have been skipped. I assume these haven’t been adapted as they deviate from the usual tone and story structure that the franchise is known for. It would make sense that Scholastic would want tonal consistency with the graphic novel adaptations. Karen is having a terrible day. Her favorite jeans are missing, there's no prize in the Crunch-O cereal box, and Boo-Boo the cat won't play with her. She even gets punished and sent to her room! Since its publication the series has been adapted into other forms of media. Two TV series were made, the first ran on HBO in 1990 and a reboot by Netflix ran between 2020 and 2021. A theatrical film also premiered in 1995.
