About this deal

Even if your machine is slightly older and the warranty has expired, Sage are still pretty good at trying to get you brewing coffee on their machines again.

The biggest difference between the Creatista Pro and Creatista Plus is that you are able to save customized beverages with the Pro. There is also an option to remove the filter attachment completely and place your pour-over brewer over the thermal jug. Now select your preferred milky mixture – cappuccino, flat white, latte or latte macchiato – and the machine will start operating at both ends, extracting the coffee while the wand does its swooshy frothing thing. To have the option of preparing both espresso and regular coffee, you would have to get a VertuoLine machine. That said, not everyone likes to have their head blown off with a massive dose of caffeine so we’ll give it the benefit of doubt in this respect. You won't fit a standard “builders mug” under the group, and this is something a few people complain about in the reviews. Go with the Creatista Plus if you want a nicer-looking (and more durable) stainless steel machine with the digital LCD display. On espresso machines it is fairly common for parts of the machine to break after a certain amount of time.

The Creatista Pro has a slight advantage over the Creatista Plus in terms of drink quality since it can brew coffee and froth milk at the same time. The LCD screen enables you to clearly see the settings for each variable alongside alerts when the water needs to be filled and the machine needs to be flushed or descaled. Another key feature of the Creatista Pro is the hot water spout that gives you the option to preheat your cups or use the water to make a long black. All you then have to do is pour that deliciously textured milk onto your espresso and create some ‘instagramable’ latte art (I’m afraid Sage haven’t invented latte art technology - one for the future of Sage machines maybe?

If you're looking for a low-cost solution to big cups of coffee, this doesn't appear to be a bad choice. There is a thermostat built into the drip tray just underneath where you sit the milk jug that detects the heat of the jug and prompts the automatic steam wand to stop heating the milk. When finished, simply pour the hot, frothy milk from the jug into your coffee cup and, well, that’s it. Flicking the toggle switch, waiting 25 seconds or so, and then slotting the pod into the pod shaped slot (it's not just a hole, it's pod shaped so you have to put it in the right way round), pulling the lever, and then pressing the metal shot button, and finally ejecting the pod with the lever, it's a great little minute or so distraction from your screen. Having used probably every Nespresso machine on the market, I have to say that the coffee dispensed by this machine didn’t taste any better than any other. If single or double shot sized coffee, or 110ml lungo is OK with you, then Nespresso original is fine. These are the most sought after type of coffee machine that Sage manufactures and have cemented their place as home coffee machine giants.

As discussed earlier, Vertuo is the newer range of machines from Nespresso, aimed at people who prefer bigger cups of coffee. The Nespresso Creatista Pro is an upgrade to the Creatista Plus which means there are a few key functions that make the Pro better than the Plus.
