About this deal

You will also need to connect the ground for the Arduino to the same ground terminal to avoid shorting. After a few prototype sketches, I came up with a design that could accommodate all 4 different types of corners by rotating and flipping the PCB. The assembly steps and connections to the control board are the same as found in my Pixel Mask instructable here.

To do this, tape them to your desk or a piece of scrap wood, heat up the solder pad on the strip with the tip of your soldering iron, and push a small bead of solder onto the strip until you have a small mound of solder on the pad. If you would like to add buttons later you can optionally bridge all but the D8 pad (which is used to drive the LEDs). The two remaining tabs should both work as ground, but check to make sure they're internally connected. This took a few iterations to get right, fusion tells me my part is on "v54" but that's mostly because I was saving intermittently.

Grab the controller PCB, the Wemos D1 Mini, and the 74HCT125N (ignore the headers in the picture above, you do not need them).

Likewise, although the Wemos is WiFi capable, I haven't implemented any WiFi features as of writing. Connecting all 3 power terminals together will ensure the voltage is evenly distributed across all the LEDs in the project. Whilst assembling the structure you can start printing the cover plates and ends in the background, I used similar settings for these prints however they will be visible on the outside, so I’d use a finer layer height and use a colour you like, I used a matt black PLA for these parts. Luckily for us, [Hari Wiguna] has documented his latest build as a long video build log , showing lots of neat tricks and highlighting many problems along the way. LED Infinity Mirror Dodecahedron Cloud installation has been designed for entertainment production companies, event agencies, nightclubs, and media production companies.

In the initial phase, we delve into your vision, shaping your ideas or crafting a concept inspired by our portfolio. This is somewhat visible from the product image, and I just didn't look too closely, which is on me. If you do have access to a resin-based printer, I would recommend using it to print the brackets and bracket covers.

Whilst this works, [Hari] thought he could do a bit better, using butt-jointed PCBs as the frame material. LED Infinity Mirror Dodecahedron has been designed for entertainment production companies, event agencies, nightclubs, and media production companies.

Get a unique photo zone for your party – it’s hard to resist taking a photo of a large glowing LED installation with changing light effects. In the end adding all the pads and through-holes was tight, and I thought there'd be manufacturing issues, but they thankfully turned out fine. We want the DC jack to be center positive, which means that the positive line is connected to the central pole inside the jack. You should also make sure the inner faces are clean, because they will become inaccessible once the dodecahedron is assembled. Overall the more expensive option produces a clearer finish and saves time, if you’re on a budget I would recommend the film option.Take the length of wire and solder it so that it connects the two unused center data pads as pictured. However, instead, all the faces of the polyhedron reflect each other, rather than just having two reflections. Since the tolerances for the dodecahedron's angles are fairly tight, it will help unsure you get them right.
