About this deal

The wlr 5:2 plan has been created to allow enough calories to include snacks, drinks and treats - especially on non fast days. The 5:2 diet is one of the most popular intermittent diets and it’s likely you’ll lose weight while following it because you are reducing your overall calorie intake. He told us, "The 5:2 diet is essentially a calorie limited diet which follows a prescriptive programme based on days of the week.

Dinner: Pork pittas and mango salsa(222cals) and a small (120ml) glass of wine (80cals) will make dinner time a little more exciting! It's a bit scary admitting that you're on a diet but in the interest of reviewing the book, it had to be done. Over the years of working with GoodTo, Jessica has had the privilege of working alongside Future’s Test Kitchen to create how-to videos exclusively for GoodtoEat - as well as writing, testing, and shooting her own recipes. The book outlines the protocol that allows you to eat normally for five days and restrict calories for two days. Breakfast:for a sweet fix try having one crumpet with a teaspoon of honey (100cals) and 20 raspberries (20cals).

High in protein, fibre and healthy fats, our shakes are low in sugar and made from all natural ingredients – they are designed to fit perfectly alongside The Fast 800 approaches. As with all diets, pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as diabetics on medication, should seek medical advice before embarking on a restricted eating programme. Breakfast: a 100gram serving of Onken’s fat-free raspberry and honey yogurt (79cals) will give you a sweet start to the day. Discover what the Fast 800 diet is, the claims behind the headlines and whether the plan might be right for you.

We asked Clinical Nutritionist, Mike Wakeman, when is the best time to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Fans of the 5:2 diet say that not only will it help you to lose weight but it can increase lifespan and protect against diseases such as heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and cancer. While 500–600 calories on fasting days is much lower than the recommended daily intake, some of those calories and nutrients can be made up for on non-fasting days. Breakfast:A banana (90cals) is ideal for breakfast on the go and will give you plenty of energy for the rest of the day. There are a number of laboratory studies that demonstrate this approach to calorie restriction can have beneficial effects on blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels, and there is some limited data in humans also confirming these observations. I’ve loved the 5:2 community and writing the health books - especially all the cooking and recipe writing.

My problems with the book are that I am not a fan of (obsessively) counting calories and much prefer fasting for a longer period of time, usually from dinner to lunch the next day. The benefits of 5:2 are not only weight loss but more energy, sharper brain and reduced risk of range of diseases. It’s up to you what you eat on your fast days, as long as it comes in at no more than 500 calories for the whole day. You can switch easily between each approach as your needs change – some people start with The Very Fast 800 if they have a significant amount of weight to lose, or to kick start weight loss, while others start with The New 5:2 or The Way of Life for gradual weight loss or to improve their overall health. The NHS advises that, for most people wanting to lose weight in a safe and sustainable way, we should reduce our calorie intake to 1,900 calories for men and 1,400 calories for women.
