Even by the end of the novel, Sam’s mother felt like the same Crappy Mom of the Decade since she was being a selfish pig. Although the centre of the book, Jase and Samantha’s relationship isn’t all that interesting – both of them are just too perfect to be real. One thing my mother never knew, and would dissaprove of most of all, was that i watched the Garretts. Fitzpatrick recognized that some aspects of her characters in My Life Next Door come from the people around her, although no characters were based on any specific person, especially not her sister.Tim, Nan's troubled brother, a boy who was going places but is now in a constant state of being hungover and stoned.

Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision.I can't stand it when books don't have everything resolved at the end, so that was one flaw in MLND.
