About this deal

My only real complaint is the story pacing feels a little off and the ending is definitely rushed. The giveaway epilogue really needs to be part of the storyline to pull it all together.

This book had so much potential, truly sad.. it had this old school college book vibes like Beautiful Disaster, nerd and off campus series. It started off so damn well. He tells her more things and she agrees to friendship sort of. He agrees he’ll “be cool” if she wants to date others (though he’s dying inside). A week passes and they hang out more. He invites her dinner with his mom and grandparents. The grandparents had disowned his mom for getting pregnant with H when she was just a teenager. At the dinner H tells grandpa he’s absolutely not going to work for their company (a restaurant that promoted conservative Christian values) and he’ll have to make amends with the daughter (his mom) they disowned if he wants family to take over. The h decides she loves him and tells him so after dinner. HEA.Overall, “Purity” is a great read for anyone looking for a steamy romance with a meaningful message. How to read online Purity by Skyler Mason? Skyler Mason Aww that makes me so happy that you love the characters. I love them too, flaws and all! The characters are well-developed and their journey to recovery is portrayed in a sensitive way. The book ends on a hopeful note that feels realistic. She pulls a Britney and has taktok videos telling people about her experiences and then announces that she's going to dispose of this little hymen in 30 days. I just felt like I was missing something- because although the writing wasn't necessarily bad, the story was just really surface-level. And when considering the fact that there wasn't really a plot behind this book, that just didn't make sense to me.

Also, the way everyone gets involved and acts like she's so innocent and they have to treat her like she's glass - ewwww The author does an excellent job of exploring the complexities of human relationships and the consequences of being raised in purity culture. But then some snippets of weird things came in. Like use of OH GOD for 106 times, not only from h but also H. Sometimes H talked the same way as h (same use of phrases like Jesus,oh god etc) Mariana and Pastor Brandon have known each other for years. But he's older than her and a close friend of her fathers, so he's been more like a family member. While some reviewers criticize the book for being too male-gaze-y, the sensitive portrayal of Cole’s protective nature towards Livy adds depth to their relationship.

I know this will be a popular book when it releases (Sept 30) due to the tab00 element, but the story is deeper than that and can resonate to those who grew up in any sort of organized religion. Plus, who doesn't like a tattooed preacher demanding you call him "Daddy?" I am the target market here. I love the virgin/manwhore trope. Virginity bets are my thing. College romance is my favorite. I even identify with the Purity culture religious upbringing…. And yet… this was baaaaaaad It was just a lot of brooding, and hiding it from each other that they had feelings- and then BAM, the sudden switch, where everything's suddenly fine. And a lot of their dialogue was so awkward pls. What happens when a virgin raised in purity culture asks her gorgeous, player best friend to take her V-card? Brandon was shown God’s path by Hector, Mari’s father. And Hector and Brandon are best friends. He’s 12 years her senior and feels a lot of shame about his desires for her from grivences with his father. He’s struggling to meet the ideal of who he thinks he should be.

See a Problem?

So we have our herione Mari, which honestly I loved her. She was refreshingly honest and so comfortable in her own skin. Her family really got on my nerves, especially her sister Sofia. She threw so many underhanded insults Mari's way that I was ready to throw down with Livvy for her😅

Livvy is the sweetest, most docile character Mason has ever written. She’s strong and resilient, but most importantly she’s becoming herself, which is all anyone ever hopes to accomplish.Normally, I’m not an ARC reader, but received this one through a FB giveaway. And was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it, particularly since I avoid anything NA like the plague. In conclusion, Mariana was a gem, strong and cheerful. She deserves the world! I liked the writing but I hated most characters. The blind and extreme devotion and peer pressure had me struggling. But once again I am biased.
