This blog post isn’t anything to do with my own fashion but how I go about fashion where I work, helping customers to be inspired and try something a little different. As people already know I work for Marks and Spencer’s, I’m a customer assistant as well as a Visual Merchandiser. For those who are not familiar what a Visual Merchandiser is, I play the role of changing windows, mannequins and any decor in the store. Anything visual I and another member of the team take care of.
Knowing I have my own fashion blog my manager was keen for me to start writing a piece a week for the Facebook like website Yammer, where most of the M&S employees have signed up to. She asked me to choose a model and dress her in the new lines we had in store. So for this weeks piece I decided to pick a nautical theme and run with it.
The Limited Edition collection at Marks and Spencer’s has always been my favourite. They capture the young modern woman while adding a little quirky twist. The first outfit I chose was a very clean and formal look. Starting with the stripe cross over crop top was the basis of the nautical theme. Teaming it up with the white culottes and white leather jacket. Finishing the look with a deep tan belt, deep tan loafers and brown sunglasses to give a polished summer look.
The second look I went for was more of a casual holiday look. A stripe dress again to give the foundation of my nautical look. Throwing over an over-sized denim jacket to give the look a more casual approach. Finishing the look with navy plimsolls and the brown sunglasses. Both looks take inspiration from the nautical theme but with a different twist. Head over to Marks and Spencer’s website if you love any of the pieces!
