About this deal

I'm looking to round out my kit for travel / landscape with a 70-200 and right now my only native z option is the f2. I found the 70-300E to be more than good enough in terms of optical quality while also finding it more convenient. Seems Nikon has lost its mind with regards to its add-ons and accessories… the Motor grip for the D800, the Wireless transmitter for its high end cameras. As a result of this test, I definitely wouldn’t use the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR uncorrected for architecture or for any other application where keeping straight lines straight is important, i.

This is possibly the only approach that makes sense if you want to know how a lens behaves in the real world. It will be even less of an issue DX (see crop factor), and goes away with recent DSLRs if you set Vignetting Correction. In all honesty, I cannot see any differences worth noting between these lenses – all four produce pretty smooth and pleasing to look at bokeh. The zoom ring is the best Nikon has made in almost 30 years since the 70-210/4 AF: it turns with one fingertip, and is well enough balanced that you can do this pointed up or down, too. All in all, the f4 is a lens that splits things up nicely into planes – it has that transparency and separation I look for in my lenses; more importantly, it doesn’t really imposeBe sure to accurately read through all the assigned characters (letters and numbers) for all the related lenses. The 70-200mm f/4 rounds out the trio of slower aperture zooms that Nikon makes (16-35mm, 24-120mm), probably in response to the f/4 zoom trio that Canon produced.

This 70-200 f/4 can be mounted on tripod with out tripod collar, mount it on camera, and then on tripod.

The lack of f4 zooms for Nikon kept me a Canon user for street photography until the D3s came out and made me pull the trigger for its low light capability. Sharpness tends to be similar in the lower focal length range between both lenses, but the f/4 is clearly worse than the f/2.
