So as you might of read I was picked to style “The Wide Leg Jean” from ASOS. My golly did it prove hard. My floor has never seen so many clothes thrown onto it. After hours of trying to find the perfect outfit, I finally came across the perfect outfit. Throw on a striped ASOS roll neck and leather jacket and it instantly spoke to me. Teaming it up with my new converse like pumps and it was the perfect outfit. A laid back and casual outfit. Here’s a little video regarding the outfit…
So being an ASOS insider, there was a competition to be in the chance of being picked to style a new and upcoming style of denim for ASOS. They were going to choose 5 guys for this styling. They choose what style of denim to give the guys and then they have to style them in their ways of styling. They then have to upload this to Instagram, where also ASOS will feature on their Instagram and their website. I’m telling you this because I ONLY GOT PICKED!!!
The style of jean I’ve been given to style are something I thought I’d get and that’s wide leg jeans…. Yes very hard to try and style but I’m sure I can throw something together. Keep your eyes peeled for the style photo shoot and a little video I’m going to put together showcasing the outfit too.
With the amount of roll necks I own I thought it was fitting to do a video on How I style turtle necks/roll necks whatever you want to call them. I have a good 11/12 and I love every single one. I just love how sophisticated they make an outfit and that they are so easy to layer over. I have one in nearly every colour. I’m on the look out for a green one as this is pretty much the only colour I don’t own. In my video I’ve done 5 outfits that are casual and 2 that are more formal looking. Click the image below to see a bigger picture of the outfits.
My favourite outfit has to be number 4 and number 5. I adore my tartan kimono along with my black Topman ribbed roll neck teamed up with my big wide brim fedora hat. Outfit number 5 has to be my go to outfit. It’s so easy to wear and just so me. My rust coloured roll neck ties this whole look together.
Which is your favourite?
Having purchased a long line shirt from H&M I wanted to try to create a different outfit to what I’m used to doing. My style is always refined and a little bit goody two shoes. I want to start branching out to the grungy side of fashion and take aspects of that aesthetic and implement it into my fashion. I imagined an outfit that was a little bit edgier than what I’d normally do. Which is where I want my style to go. I want to try new things and see if they suit me, like the risk I took with this long line shirt. I didn’t think long line shirts would suit me only being 5ft 7 and half but I really dig this grid print shirt and I most certainly will be buying more. I did intend to film this video on the park near me but due to vandalism it was closed so I had to quickly change my ideas and this popped to mind. I was totally going for the grunge aesthetic here.
With New Years Eve just around the corner, I came stuck as to what to wear for this amazing night. I’m venturing out of little old Shropshire and venturing down to the big city of London. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, go watch the fireworks in the capital city. Every year has been the same where I planned to do it and nothing followed through. This year I was making sure my best friends and I were going. We booked a hotel (The hotel we stayed at in my previous London Vlog video “Linked Here“) Making our way down to London at 3:45 pm and then once we have arrived we shall go for a food to obviously line our stomachs ready for the large alcohol intake we are about to induce. After this, we shall return to the hotel and start preparations for the event. We shall arrive at our designated spot of watching the fireworks at around 8-9ish. I will make sure I film most of our night so you guys get to see what we get up to. We also plan some fun games back at the hotel too so you may see those. However back to my main point, I have chosen 4 outfits which I really love but I need your help to choose which one you’d like to see me wear. I have photographs of each and then a YouTube video also. Take a look and see which ones you like too.
So this time of the year we’re all busy buying gifts for other people and for me that’s what I enjoy the most. The art of giving someone you love a gift that they will hopefully love. Wrapping them is an art form in itself, for many years I have gone down the brown paper and ribbons or string route and I think that they just look perfectly vintage and timeless at the same time. But while you’re busy buying for other people don’t forget to “TREAT YO SELF” as there are some amazing bargains out there around this time of the year. Which is why I purchased my new ASOS camel coat. It’s a longer coat than I would normally have and it doesn’t have a collar. I instantly fell in love with it. It’s something different and new, which is what I’m all about. Talking about presents, I got gifted something from ASOS too. Being an ASOS insider I get unprecedented access to all things ASOS. which means a few presents every now and again. So when I saw the big shiny envelope sat on my bed when I got home on Monday, I couldn’t wait to find out what was inside. When I opened it and saw my picture on what appeared to be a mock-up magazine for ASOS, I squealed and thought to myself this is why I have a fashion blog and YouTube. I want to get my face out there and inspire people to think differently about fashion. It was such a lovely gift and I love it so much!
So it’s that time of year again where my parents and grandparents just look at me and say what do you want for Christmas? I look around my room to where my rail for my clothes is bending in the middle, my shoe collection is taking up half the floor and my coat stand that’s over filling with coats, jackets and scarves. I just look at them and say I could do with some more clothes I suppose?
1 – ASOS Fedora: So recently I’ve been wearing my H&M fedora and it’s just not staying on my head right at all. It’s gotten so big and starting to get out of shape so I think it’s time to invest in another this time a little sturdier than the H&M one.
2 – Topman Socks: I recently purchased some socks from Topman which were amazing they were teal with foxes on them
and now I’ve gone a bit crazy on socks with print on them. These stag printed red socks are the perfect Christmas sock, but you could always get away with wearing them all year around. Stag’s have always been my favourite animal and the print is just amazing.
3 – ASOS Ring: So I’ve never been one for wearing a lot of jewelry especially rings. I, however, want to start getting a few bits of jewelry and start adding some into my outfits. This ring attracted me to its dark and mystical stone against the gold. I just thought it was really pretty and would go with a lot of things.
4 – ASOS Collarless Camel Coat: I’ve wanted a camel coat for years and years. I was going to buy the Topman overcoat not so long ago but everywhere I went and even online had sold out of my size which was so annoying. But looking on the coats on ASOS I found this beauty and I must have it. It’s just so elegant and stunning.
5 – ASOS Watch: Again, like the jewelry I’ve never been one to wear things on my wrist such as a thing like a watch. But this minimalistic white watch was so my aesthetic right now and I just love the gold trimming.
6 – Topman Rust Turtle Neck- After purchasing my first turtleneck (after being a massive fan of the roll neck) I instantly fell in love with the neck of these jumpers. It’s not too high, but they’re not too low. Now, like my roll necks I need them in every colour possible. This rust one from Topman instantly stood out and I’m really loving earthy kind of colours right now.
7 – Topman Forest Green Roll Neck: I spoke previously about roll necks so you know about my love for them. So when I saw this forest green ribbed roll neck I instantly wanted it. I just love how smart it would look with black trousers or even some dark tartan trousers. I’ve never been one for wearing green, but all of a sudden my love of earthy tones came along and I want lots of green.
8 – River Island Oil Slick Shoes: River Island has seriously won me over with these limited edition oil slick shoes. I’m all about a bold statement shoe, be it holographic, gold, silver or an oil slick. I could seriously see myself rocking these shoes with an all black outfit.
9 – Boohoo Pussybow: I already have a cravat bow tie but at the moment I’m really loving all these bows that are on women’s clothing. Using this bow to make statements with my outfits would be really cool. I just think it makes and outfit pop and really look classy.
10 – River Island Smart Trousers: I really love smart trousers. But I always think a grey trouser looks way smarter than any other trouser. With New Years Eve coming around, I need to think formal and smart as I’m celebrating it in London watching the fireworks and these would be the perfect trouser to dress up and still be warm.
So please Santa, I’d be very happy if I could have everything? I’ve been a very good boy!
So on Sunday my friends and I took a trip to London. It was a celebration of our friend Katie turning 21 (Baby of the group) On Sunday we arrived in London with excitement and anticipation to see The Lion King in the west end. We made way to our Covent Garden hotel and proceeded to give Katie her gifts. The first set of gifts were joke presents that we tried to make Katie think were her real gifts. However, Natalie and I are awful liars and she knew that these were, in fact, joke presents. So we proceeded to give her the real gifts. We then got changed and went to see the Lion King in the West End. It was amazing. After coming back to our hotel, it was time for another outfit change to proceed to what we thought was going to be a night up the Shard. However, The Shard closed at 6 pm and it was already approaching 5:30 and by the time we had got ready and tried to catch a Tube or walk there we wouldn’t have got there in time. I, therefore, suggested going up the London Eye instead as the closing time for the London Eye was at 8.30 so we had plenty of time to get ready and get ourselves down there. The view was amazing, London lit up by the lights of all the buildings and street lamps. It was a pretty experience. After going up the eye, we stopped for a spot of food at TGI’s and after a beverage or two decided it was time to go back to the hotel. As we were walking back to the hotel, we saw that there was a sign saying filming in progress. We were told that it was for a film, but they weren’t allowed to tell us what film it was for. So after that we retreated back to our hotel.
Day 2 we woke up early to make sure we had enough time to do the things we wanted to do. We decided to get a late check-out which meant we could leave our bags instead of lugging them around London. We proceeded to go to The Shard. The lifts were an experience in themselves. They went so fast but once at the top again the view was stunning. The lighting on photographs too were also top notch! After visiting The Shard, we carried on to Oxford Street where I splashed some cash, well vouchers! After Oxford street, we went to get some food and then proceeded to go to the station to catch our Train home.
From as long as I can remember Maleficent has always been my idol. My favourite Disney villain of all time. She is the queen of evil and darkness. For Halloween this year I wanted to re-create my Idol, but as the male fashionista version of her. I wanted to embody her darkness and evil and channel it into something fashionable. Nothing says evil than an all black outfit. Starting with the Neoprene longline Boohoo coat that has slits up the side. It hands perfectly to act as a cape. Underneath this, I’ve used my chiffon black shirt from H&M to add a flowy feel to the look. On top of this I’ve added a feather neck piece to my evil look. I also put a ribbon around my neck to give the iconic neck piece of Maleficent. Teamed up with my high waisted trousers and monk-strap shoes, I’ve added 2 pieces of 4-metre chiffon fabric to add dramatics to the costume. Not to mention Maleficent’s iconic horns and staff.
To say I did this video and the photographs on my own is a good achievement in my books!
Outfit 1) The Belted Cape: Using the cape as almost a coat you cinch the cape in at the waist with a belt of choice depending on the colour of the cape. My cape is a dark colour, therefore, I’ve decided to use a black belt to cinch in the cape. Also, my cape has a bit of a monochrome feel to it so underneath I’ve decided to go for a pop of colour to bring the outfit together. My shoes, which are a white tie in with the print on the cape also to bring the whole look together.
Outfit 2) The Over The Shoulder Look: This look is the most casual and easiest of the looks. It’s literally just throwing a cape over the shoulder and over any outfit. However, because my Tartan cape is so bold I went for a very subdued look underneath to compliment the cape. Wearing my black denim dungarees with my new grey knitted jumper and finishing the look with my black Chelsea boots.
Outfit 3) The long-line Formal: By far my favourite outfit of all time. Throwing on my long-line black cape with my smart white shirt. High waisted trousers, deer stag pin cravat (that I made myself) my trusty Fedora-wide brim hat and tying the look together with my Monk strap shoe. Perfect for that formal occasion or if in my case just to stand out of from the crowd. It’s a very monochrome look so you could add a different coloured shirt but I really love monochrome.
Here is my YouTube video on how I style my cape:
