About this deal

For example, the Meze Rai Solo has some peaks between 1kHz and 4kHz that were slightly tamed also. You might lose dynamic response and detail with high-tier models. So the M0 Pro can replace at least three types of devices up to now which raises its versatility rating. The only particular feature it does not have is internal storage. But you could use a micro SD card of up to 2TB which is an upgrade from the 512MB max capacity on the original MO. Decoding Today we are releasing firmware update V2.3, adding our built-in Tidal app to all M1s players, for full Tidal Online Streaming over Wi-Fi.

I first tested the M1s as DAC/amp, playing Coltrane and Radiohead in lossless, Tidal MQA and 320kb OGG through my Kindle Fire and a Dell laptop (note that a driver is required for Windows). Because the MS1 uses the same ESS ES9038Q2M chips as Shanling’s UA5 and UA2 dongles (albeit with a more powerful amp), I expected the M1s to sound more-or-less the same—warmish, smooth and balanced across the different frequencies. What I did this time was use the device for over 8 hours and the Shanling M0 Pro gave me that and much more. If you use sensitive IEMs you could certainly obtain an entire day’s worth of music Production. For a budget device, it seems to punch way above its price point far as a proper and interesting soundstage. Perhaps the premium DAC is the culprit here.Nevertheless, these buttons are a part of the design. But another problem here is that it sacrifices some space on the screen. And when it’s held in its original position, your thumb covers a lot of screen space as well. However, Shanling has a solution in which you can invert the screen upside down from the software, to place the buttons on the bottom. That works better overall. The Shanling M1s is another model that was recently put through some scrutiny here at the office. I consider it to be an in-between model and not so much a starter model and one with similar features. Shanling M1s follows the legacy of M1 and Q1 portable music players. It has an ultra-compact lightweight design with metallic chassis. The player has a firm design that provides a comfortable grip. Its compact design allows the user to carry the M1s anywhere they want. It’s an ideal choice for jogging, working out, cycling, or any other activity. The small Shanling M0 Pro surely feels sturdy since the main body is made from a solid chunk of aluminum which is then CNC-shaped. The Shanling M0 Pro looks like a miniature M3 Ultra. It has similar slotted sides and a similar multifunction rotary volume knob.

Both these models have a single 3.5mm output port but the M0 Pro has an advantage due to an available 3.5mm to 4.4mm adapter which also supplies a higher amount of power. If your particular IEM uses a 3.5mm TRRS balanced connection then it will work without the adapter just the same. The M1s has an upgraded Ingenic X2000 ThreCore processor with upgraded MTouch 2.0 OS. It offers smooth UI and advanced software such as WiFi connectivity supporting streaming, Apple Airplay, and DLNA features. Customers are to bear the consequences and fees incurred, if the parcel was undelivered due to any of the following situation: One aspect I like about the R2 II is the reduced girth of the case and rounded corners. The extra girth of the M1s is due to the solid aluminum alloy body and although this adds a level of solidity but also adds some weight. Other than that, I do feel that the screen produces bright and vivid colors plus it seems sharp enough to produce crisp-looking text. I did scrounge around looking for a text enlarging feature but there’s none available. I did find two general icon themes within the menu system. These three DAPs all have ESS technologies DAC sections so they seem to have similar sonic traits. What makes them sound different, especially in the case of the M1s is the amplification section. In the case of the M0 Pro, the extra power comes from the double SoC setup.

So, you could connect the R2 II to a PC via USB and transmit its audio to a TWS or you could simply use the R2 II internal player to transmit to a TWS. What it can’t do is receive a BT transmission and then re-transmit to a TWS.

You can also use the M1S as a USB DAC along with a smartphone or laptop, but it only supports PCM up to 32/384, and DSD up to DSD256 in this mode, which isn’t bad at all. No MQA, however.

The player is super speedy, performing most tasks without any lag, including processing large file libraries or playing DSD iso files, things I’ve seen bog down many a player. There was an exception when performing a specific task, which I’ll review in a minute. Shanling M1s vs HIDIZS AP80 PRO-X (229 USD vs 200 USD) – Right at the end, there’s a DAP that’s actually much smaller than M1S, and AP80 PRO-X is actually more similar in size to Shanling M0, than Shanling M1S. This being said, the size also brings some problems with it, and M1S has better support for features, and a much stronger driving power, where AP80 PRO-X is a much leaner, lower power source that sounds good with IEMs, but does not have quite the driving power, impact and punchy of M1s. If you need something that’s simply smaller, AP80 PRO-X is much smaller, but the M1S has a stronger, punchier, more dynamic sound that has a better impact. When all put together, M1s comes as our most featured and best sounding MTouch player, while staying true to its heritage of compact design The caveat here is that you’re then forced to use the headphone connections at the bottom but some prefer that. Also, the volume is flipped to the bottom. All of the other features remain similar including the 2TB micro SD card capacity, an app that enables remote control capabilities from a mobile device. If you’re an IOS user it might fare you best to get the R2 II since the app offered with the M0 Pro doesn’t work on that platform. DesignThe R2 II made this IEM sound warm in comparison by quelling the harsh high frequencies but kept the vocals warm and inviting. It also quelled frequencies in the upper midrange. Again, moving to a single dynamic produced similar results. A top-to-bottom swipe gives you access to a toggle on/off mode screen along with a screen brightness adjustment slider. The bottom portion of the screen gives you direct access to the built-in player. The major change within the new Shanling M0 Pro took place within the DAC section. The original M0 used an ES9218P but it was replaced inside the M0 Pro by a more recent ES9219C. But not only was the DAC chip updated but this time around the M0 Pro gets a double set of chips. The new Shanling M1s MTouch Player is now said to combine the best of the previous models, making it the ideal representative of the Shanling MTouch Player Series. All the features of the Shanling M5
