About this deal

DJI is working on a firmware update for the DJI Mini 2 and its battery system to initiate auto-discharge when batteries are in the drone or charging hub and have not been used recently. When placed in the drone or charging hub, the batteries use a minute amount of charge to maintain vital functions and does not initiate auto-discharge. DJI recommends that batteries are removed from the drone and/or charging hub when batteries need to be stored for a long time even after the firmware update. DJI will update our community when firmware will be available when that information becomes available.’ Do not fly your drone when it is too hot or too cold outside. Batteries are temperature sensitive, and extreme temperatures affect their performance and their life.

First, clean the battery terminals with the cotton swab soaked in cleaning alcohol. Make sure to clean any and all debris, dirt any foreign objects. Counting from the left side, if the first LED is flashing, your battery has less than 25% charge. If the first LED is solid and the 2nd LED is flashing, your battery has between 25% – 50% charge and so on. You start off by attaching your USB charging cable to a power adapter. The adapter is plugged into an AC power supply that’s rated for 100-240 V and 50-60 Hz. If you have been using your Mini 2 battery following the best practices, it should last for a good 2 – 3 years, depending on how often you fly and how deep you usually discharge the batteries during flight sessions. The DJI Mini 2 battery has two Li-Po cells connected in series. Each individual cell produces 3.7v and hence the total voltage of the battery is 7.4v when fully charged. The BMS also ensures the battery goes into hibernation during long storage times (more on this below). DJI’s warranties only protect users against craftsmanship errors, not user errors like charging with a third-party battery. If your drone incurs damage, you’d have to pay for the replacement yourself. Once you exceed or drop below ambient temperatures, the battery charging behavior can become erratic.

The battery capacity starts decreasing with each cycle and you will see a reduced flight time as time goes on. If you are a mellow flyer and fly for short intervals before recharging your battery, you should expect up to 500 charge cycles. You can charge your DJI Mini 2 battery directly through your drone using a USB charging cable or by removing it from the drone and connecting it to DJI’s Two-Way Charging Hub. The latter is ideal for pilots who use more than one battery.Try not to fly your drone at full throttle at all times. Full throttle drains a lot of current from your battery in a short time. This massive discharge reduces the battery life.

Firstly, you need to remove your battery from the drone. This is done by using the battery clamps on the side of the drone. Again, make sure your drone isn’t on. The DJI Mini 2 battery won’t work when the temperature drops below 14 °F (-10 °C). If you are flying in an area where the temperature is below freezing point, that could be the reason. If you are turning your drone ON for the first time after arrival, chances are that your drone batteries are in hibernation. Charging your drone with a non-DJI charger or inserting a non-DJI battery carries many risks. You can never be 100 percent certain of the compatibility until you use the third-party device. It is possible for it to develop bugs and software glitches at times. This happens will other home electronics like TVs and phones all the time. There are always discussions about leaving a LiPo battery-powered device charging overnight and its potential consequences. However, some batteries come with more safety mechanisms than others. If your third LED light blinks two times a second, that’s indicative of high battery voltage. You’re likely overcharging the battery, so begin discharging the battery to one percent before charging. By the way, it generally isn’t a cause for concern if your maximum flight times are turning out to be a little different. DJI recommends charging the Mini 2 Intelligent Flight battery at 5 to 40 degrees Celsius or 41 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
