About this deal

Most dehumidifiers are noisy, averaging decibel levels of between 34-48dB. That's because they draw in air via a fan and then use a compressor and refrigerant to cool and condense the air to extract the moisture from it. Interestingly, ProBreeze measures this units noise levels as 40dB – fairly high compared to many dehumidifiers we've tested – however, it's the type of noise as well as the volume that dictates how intrusive an appliance's noise is, and I found the ProBreeze 1500ml Mini dehumidifier particularly quiet in comparison to most. Portability Suitability - The PureMate 600ml Dehumidifier is designed for use in rooms with a floor area of up to 15 square metres. It's therefore suitable for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, caravans, garages, offices, basements, etc. It can also be used inside of wardrobes and cabinets, for example.

I tested the ProBreeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier in a couple of different rooms throughout my home. In the kitchen, it did a great job of stopping condensation on the windows when I was cooking. It didn’t really get rid of any odours associated with cooking like other dehumidifiers have, but this design doesn’t have an air filter, so that’s understandable. HIGH EFFICIENCY & LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION: Squeezes Up to 300ml of water a day from Humid Air. Don’t let the energy consumption of the dehumidifier become your burden, with our dehumidifier, you can rest assured every day. The PM 420 dehumidifier is nicely designed and feature intuitive touch button controls and a clear LCD screen so you can control the humidity level inside the room with ease. Other features include a 24 hour timer function, two fan speeds for further customise use and 6.5L Removable Water Tank Capacity. The durable caster wheels and compact design allow you to easily move the unit from room to room. Please note, the actual amount of water the unit will draw will depend on the room size, temperature and humidity.

Summary

That said, this small dehumidifier won't be for everyone. It's extraction rate is low at just 500ml per day, so if you have large rooms, significant moisture issues, or want to use a dehumidifier to help to dry laundry indoors, this dehumidifier likely won't be for you. Its extraction capacity is too small.

A large removable 6.5 Litre water tank is built into the compressor dehumidifier with an additional continuous drainage option should you require a more permanent drainage solution. This can be directed into a drain or storage container. And, whilst this Russell Hobbs number is cheaper upfront, running costs are higher, with the 20L dehumidifier using 440W of energy compared to Meaco's 20L Arete One which uses 216W on average. Plus, the Arete One offers a built-in air purifier which this model does not.

Finding the best dehumidifier for your home depends a lot on the type of moisture issue you're trying to solve, so it's always worth speaking with the customer service department of the manufacturer you're hoping to buy from to ensure you have the right model for your needs. However, thePro Breeze 20L Premium Dehumidifier does win on price, coming in a fair bit cheaper than the MeacoDry Arete One. Being a very large compressor dehumidifier the PureMate PM420 is suitable for large 4/5 bedroom homes, cottages and smaller offices etc. ProBreeze states the unit's energy consumption is just 40W. At current energy prices of 30p per kilowatt hour of electricity, that means the ProBreeze 1500ml Mini dehumidifier costs just 1p per hour to run. Since the pureMate PM420 is a compressor type dehumidifier you will probably find that the actual extraction rate will fall far short of the stated 20 litre extraction rate.

If fog and condensation form on your windows or some mould appears on your walls/ceilings, this means that there is too much excess moisture indoors. Laundry Mode: This setting places the dehumidifier on maximum power and is ideal for drying washing indoors. The PM420 will run continuously when using laundry mode.

About PureMate

Respiratory Issues and High Humidity Levels: High levels of humidity have been connected to numerous respiratory issues, particularly in young children. High humidity levels present the perfect breeding ground for dust mites which can be found living in your home in the furniture, carpets and bedding. Decreasing moisture levels will help destroy mites and avoid respiratory irritation, ensuring the best living environment. The first thing you should take into account while choosing a mini dehumidifier is its performance. The performance defines the amount of moisture it can squeeze from the air and those spaces it's suitable for. The moisture is usually measured in pints or ounces per day. The more powerful the unit is, the more excess water it removes. As for the maximum coverage area, it varies greatly from model to model. If you need to dehumidify a closet, laundry room, bathroom, or any other tight space, it's sensible to choose models with less than 1200 cubic feet coverage. But if you're going to normalize humidity level in a small bedroom, office, kitchen, or study room, opt for more powerful models with more than 2000 cubic feet coverage. Size The alternative is a Peltier dehumidifier, which, although not specified, is likely the method the Silentnight 39899 600ml Dehumidifier uses. In contrast to a compressor dehumidifier, a Peltier dehumidifier uses a far quieter thermo-electric process to extract moisture from the air. In light of the energy price-cap hike, PureMate’s dehumidifier can offer a more affordable way to dry your washing, as it helps to draw moisture and allergens away from clothing.

Anything of a nature that for hygiene or associated health and safety - this includes the Outdoor Spas, Mattresses and Divan Sets The active carbon filter is one of the best filters for taking impurities out of the air so the resulting air after using the PureMate PM420 is very clean, very healthy and promotes great relaxation. PM420 Humidty Light The downside is that this dehumidifier has a far lower extraction rate than most, extracting just 0.3 litres of water from the air per day. For comparison, the best in class Meaco Arete One dehumidifier can extract between 10 and 25 litres of water from the air per day depending which model you opt for. Water tank capacity is also reduced, with the Silentnight model only able to hold 0.6L of water. That means you'll be emptying the tank frequently. For more details, you can read our full Russell Hobbs RHDH1061G Portable Dehumidifier review. How to choose As Chris Michael, Managing Director of the air quality brand Meaco says, inside the home, 'excess moisture in the air can come from drying clothes in the house, boiling vegetables, putting the kettle on, bathing, showering, open flame gas style heating, damp clothing, breathing, and the damp British weather.' COMPACT ANTI-MOULD AIR CLEANER: Assists in the relief of allergies, breathing difficulties, congestion, and itchy watery eyes by reducing mould spores and dust mites from living, work, or play areas. It's also worth considering noise levels and energy consumption before you invest in a dehumidifier. What's the quietest dehumidifier?
