An enjoyable mystery, THE INVITE is a domestic thriller of unbelievable proportions. I certainly didn't want to put it down until I had all the answers, that's for sure. Something which Sheryl skillfully does with every book. The intensity was such that by the time the tension has built, the book is impossible to put down.

This is the second novel I have read by A.J. McDine and it was fabulous. I really enjoyed the premise of THE INVITE and loved the fast pace. Be prepared for the unexpected! This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonists being Kaitlin Chalmer, Zoe Weller, Sally, Adam Diaz, Kyle Roberts, Richard, Daniel and Jessica. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything. When your heart has been broken by a man who manipulated you from day one, you promise yourself one thing: never again! The plot has you thinking one thing and then another and is ideal for readers that like playing armchair detective. Staring at the stunning diamond solitaire on her finger, Kaitlin knows her relationship has been a whirlwind… but Greg looks after her, and he loves playing dad to her young daughter. How could she refuse when he’s already planned their romantic elopement? The best thing about the book is that it had a lot of dark characters and literally anyone could have been the bad guy. The ending especially was brilliant. I was supposed to buddy read this book, but I was too excited and I finished it in probably a day or two. The writing style increased the tension with each chapter. It had multiple POVs. The tone of the book was grim and dark. On an island on the coast of Cornwall, cut off from the mainland by the tides for most of the day, thirteen old friends meet at Tregowan Castle for a weekend of revelry.
