The boyfriend and I are always up for a little getaway and the one that we’ve just come back from what has been a perfect little weekend away. I’ve always wanted to do a little bit of glamping, I’m not one to have to pitch a tent and then sleep in a sleeping bag. A warm bed is very much what I love. I did a little research online and found some lovely places to stay but because it was last minute not many of them had the available dates that we wanted to do. A Friday night to Sunday were the dates we planned to go and with only a week to go I thought I had left it too late, that was till I found Lowe’s Farm. A cute and gorgeous little farm in the middle of the peak district in Derbyshire. Now the style of glamping was a little Shepard’s hut in a middle of a field, it just instantly sounded so appealing and I instantly email them and asked if it was available. They replied within an hour or so saying it was available, I emailed back instantly saying I would like to book for 2 nights and before I knew it was booked.
I finished work on the Friday afternoon at 3pm, got changed and then raced over the boyfriend’s house, where he was waiting all packed ready to go. The drive was such a beautiful drive, along the countryside roads and the backdrop of the rolling hills of the Peak District. As we arrived we were greeted by automatic gates that lead us into the parking area for the cars. As we approached the house I spotted the Shepard’s hut that we will be staying in. The owners were very welcoming and very down to earth. They showed us where everything was and then told us our key was already in the door of the hut so go on up whenever you’re ready. After settling in the hut and just been so content with where we were, Nick and Bern came to the door to hand us some little house warming gifts. Some home-made brownies, eggs for breakfast, drinking water and then a big bottle of water for our kettle. After this, they just left us to it and we saw them around the farm doing their daily business, but we thought how lovely it was that they made us feel so welcome.
The hut was a perfect combination of homely and chic. With a big double bed, with a mass of duvets and blankets. Perfect little accessories around the hut such as little loves heart hooks, hanging wooden hearts and floral bedding and curtains. It was my idea of heaven, quirky and just super cute. The hut did have facilities such as; A gas stove and grill, a kettle, a fireplace, solar panelled lights and an eco-friendly toilet. Showering facilities and a normal toilet was down in the barn just a short walk away from the hut which was nice to go to every now and again. The hut shielded you from the rain and wind pretty well. The first night the rain and wind just didn’t let up and it was horrendous on the roads when we went for a drive to Leek for the day. In a way, it was comforting to hear the rain hitting the hut while you was tucked up in bed.
We had an amazing time and it was just a beautiful place to visit. We most definitely will be going to go again!
